After more than a decade in American white oak ex-bourbon barrels, this 12-year-old single malt from Fettercairn is a classic example of the distillery’s signature tropical fruit style. The palate brings notes of vanilla, pears and soft spices, before a fruity wave of nectarines, tropical fruit, clove, ginger and roasted coffee. The finish is lingering and sweet, offering notes of black toffee and sultanas.
The 2021-release of 16-year-old single malt from Fettercairn is a soft, sweet single malt with notes of vanilla, ginger, raisins, peaches, honey, banana and chocolate throughout the palate and lingering in the finish.
This is the Fettercairn Distillery’s second release of its 16 year old single malt Scotch whisky, and this time, the team has gone for a distinctly sherried styling. A mid-2017 addition to the Glen Scotia range, this 25 year old single malt was drawn from some specially selected casks and married in first-fill bourbon barrels before being bottled at 48.8% ABV.
Looks like the Glen Scotia range has had a bit of a redesign! They’ve gone for quite a classic, refined design this time, and have even introduced a selection of new expressions, including the Glen Scotia Double Cask! This Campbeltown single malt is finished in a combination of first-fill bourbon barrels and Pedro Ximénez Sherry casks.
Glen Scotia’s Victoriana sees the Campbeltown distillery’s single malt drawn from casks with a particularly heavy char profile, imparting plenty of rich, roasty-toasty notes. This, however, is the Victoriana Cask Strength expression. It’s obvious what the difference here is – it’s bottled at cask strength, a robust 54.2% ABV, which helps bolster those aforementioned roasty-toasty notes.
