Description

Edradour 12 Year Old 2012 Michael Eppan Pinot Noir 70cl 48.2% is a distinctive Highland single malt Scotch whisky from one of Scotland’s smallest and most traditional distilleries. Distilled on 22 February 2012 and bottled on 22 January 2025, this release was matured in first-fill St. Michael-Eppan Pinot Noir casks, giving Edradour’s naturally rich spirit a fruit-driven and elegant wine-cask twist.

This bottling was drawn from four casks, numbered 709, 710, 711, and 712, and released at 48.2% ABV. It is also presented with natural colour and without chill filtration, helping preserve the whisky’s texture and full character. The total outturn was 1,422 bottles, making it a clearly limited release.

The Pinot Noir cask influence gives this whisky a different profile from Edradour’s more familiar sherried style. Retail descriptions point to red fruit, apple juice, grapes, berries, and soft woody notes, suggesting a brighter and more vinous take on the distillery’s weighty Highland house character.

Collector’s Note

This bottling has strong enthusiast appeal because it combines limited availability with a less common wine-cask style for Edradour. For buyers who enjoy comparing the distillery’s classic sherried profile with more experimental cask maturations, this Michael Eppan Pinot Noir release is an especially interesting addition. The comparison point is an inference based on the cask type and Edradour’s broader reputation for sherry-forward releases.
