Croftengea 11 Year Old Batch 5 That Boutique-y Whisky Company (50cl, 47.8%)
The Loch Lomond distillery is famed for its unique and varied still setup, which enables it to produce a vast array of different whisky styles. But is all of that just a cover for the fact that it’s actually run by a bunch of wizards? The folks at That Boutique-y Whisky Company certainly suspect so. A smoky spell must have been cast when making this one, it’s a peated Croftengea single malt that spent 11 years maturing in a refill bourbon hogshead.
Batch 5 is a release of 183 bottles.
Cu Dhub Black (70cl, 40%)
Cu Dhub, pronounced “kaddoo,” is actually a very loose recreation of a whisky called Loch Dhu, which was bottled for only a few years in the ’90s and managed to attain a sort of cult following during that time. Most reviews revel in how awful it is — primarily because it drew its color not from caramel but from extra-charred oak barrels, where it spent 10 years.

Dalmore 45 Year Old 2021 Release (70cl, 40%)
The Dalmore 45 has been hand crafted by Master Distiller Richard Paterson who has used some of the distillery’s rarest aged liquids to create what Richard himself has described as ‘flawless perfection’.
Initially matured in American white oak ex-bourbon casks, the liquid has then been transferred into two different Vintage Graham’s Port Colheita pipes dating from 1961 and 1963 to create layers of flavour, which are indulgent, smooth and complex.
For its final flourish the whisky was then married together in first fill American white oak ex-bourbon casks providing The Dalmore 45 with a truly unrivalled finish. The Dalmore’s use of multiple casks is a fitting example of the distillery’s commitment to exquisite cask curation, which focuses on sourcing and utilising only the best casks from the world’s finest bodegas and wineries.
Purposefully retained at 40% ABV, The Dalmore 45 features exquisite flavours of red berries, soft liquorice, crushed hazelnuts, bitter chocolate and Manuka honey. This is followed by the sweet flavours of sticky toffee pudding, Bramley apples and juicy dates to finish.
Richard Paterson commented: “By personally selecting the very finest American white oak ex-bourbon casks and Port Colheita Pipes from 1961 and 1963, I have been able to create a truly unique expression which is indulgent and smooth with a vibrant and lively flavour profile. It takes time, dedication and passion to create an expression like The Dalmore 45 and age has gracefully matured this distinguished spirit to make it one of The Dalmore’s greatest aged spirits. This is a very special whisky, which I would describe as flawless perfection.”
Only 500 bottles of The Dalmore 45 will be released globally this year. 2021 Release
Dalmore Cigar Malt (1L, 44%)
Dalmore Cigar Malt was discontinued in mid-2009, causing uproar among all right-thinking, cigar-smoking whisky fans. This dram used to sit above the 12, and below the 15 in terms of both the price-point, and the age-profiles of the whisky that went into the blend, but the new version is a little different.
The whiskies that make up the reworked cigar malt are slightly older, which has pushed up the price somewhat.
But it’s a great whisky, whether you drink with its intended purpose in mind or not. And if you do enjoy cigars, you’ll want to know that the stick that provided the flavour benchmark for pairing is the hefty Partagas Serie D No. 4.

Dalmore The Quartet (1L, 41.5%)
The Dalmore Quartet Single Malt Scotch Whiskey is part of a special series launched by the distillery in late 2019. Under the direction of the company Whyte & Mackay, the well-known Scottish distillery released three bottlings with one interesting thing in common: each whiskeyWithin the modern product line, storage has been influenced by several types of casks. The trio matured in three types of casks, the Dalmore Quartet single malt scotch whiskey in four different barrel types, and the quintet even in five. These different influences have left fascinating traces on the spirits. The Dalmore Quartet Single Malt Scotch Whiskey and its brothers live up to their name and inspire as innovative trendsetters. After all, two barrels are now commonplace for whiskey maturation, but few companies venture into more.
Dalmore The Quintet (70cl, 44.5%)
A 2020 release from Dalmore that takes a maximalist approach to cask finishing.
Indeed, this dram is part of a mini series of three whiskies from the Highland distillery. Each expression in this series showcases Dalmore’s spirit in an increasing number of cask finishes, with the Trio being finished in three casks, the Quartet in four, and the Quintet in five.
Dalmore Quintet has been finished in rare muscatel casks, Malmsey Madeira barrels, 30 year old matusalem sherry casks, 10 year old port casks and Cabernet Sauvignon casks from Bordeaux.
The result is an exceedingly rich and complex whisky, which serves up notes of pineapple, mango, bananas, maple syrup, espresso, dark chocolate, rich dried fruits, plums, marmalade, white grapes, malt, vanilla custard, rancio, old oak and leather.
A whisky that illustrates sometimes, more is more!
The dram is bottled at the higher proof of 44.5% ABV for extra body and depth.
Dalmore Trio 1L, 40%
An exceptional single malt matured in three equally exceptional casks. Using a three cask maturation, The Dalmore The Trio is a captivating marriage of rare and exceptional casks. The liquid is initially matured in American white oak ex-bourbon casks. This gives its first base of soft vanilla and honey notes. The whisky is apportioned between first fill ex-bourbon casks, 10 year old Tawny port pipes and 30 year old Matusalem sherry casks. The three parts are then brought back together to harmonise.”
Dalwhinnie 15 Year Old (1L, 43%)
A great malt which Jim Murray awarded 95 points in his Whisky Bible, this is excellent value for money. The flavours are simple, but flawless, a clean, crisp 15 year old from the Dalwhinnie distillery, also part of Diageo’s Classic Malts range.
Dalwhinnie Winter’s Frost Game of Thrones House Stark (70cl, 43%)
Far in the North of Westeros lies the home of House Stark, a noble family whose lords served as King in the North for generations. A proud and loyal family, the Starks were true to those they swore allegiance to – First House Targaryen and later House Baratheon. However, every noble family has a vulnerable side, and the Starks are no different. Living in the North they are often caught with a warning passing their lips: Winter is coming. Like House Stark, Dalwhinnie distillery are northerners through and through. One of the highest and coldest distilleries in Scotland, the extreme weather and cold temperatures experienced at Dalwhinnie are reflected in the fact that this single malt is best served chilled, or over ice, to highlight its signature honey and spice characteristics.
Aged in ex-bourbon casks, this light gold single malt gently opens to flavours of honeyed figs and delicious malt balls, finishing with rich fruitcake sweetness. Like House Stark, Dalwhinnie Winter’s Frost is loyal to the flavour profile that the distillery is known for, and not only survives the cold of winter, but uses it to its advantage.
Darkness 8 Year Old (70cl, 47.8%)
At the core of this Darkness expression is an 8 year old single malt Scotch whisky which has been matured in ex-bourbon barrels. Following that, the whisky is moved over to custom-made Oloroso sherry octave casks for at least three months.
Small casks make for a vastly increased surface area to volume ratio compared to the much larger sherry butts, leading to more cask influence and more of those intense sherried notes we’ve all come to know and love.
Darkness 8 Year Old is a continuous release from the range that was previously built around very limited edition bottlings, though the name of the game hasn’t changed – big ol’ helpings of sherried deliciousness await you!
Deanston 10 Year Old Bordeaux Red Wine Cask Finish (70cl, 46.3%)
Originally released for the Travel Retail market, this 10 year old single malt from the wonderful Deanston Distillery was finished in casks that had previously held red wine from the world-famous Bordeaux region of France. This wine cask finish has imparted a full-bodied sweetness to the whisky, balancing its creamy, malty notes with splashes of damson, cherry and just a hint of dark chocolate. A superb late night dram, this one.
Deanston 12 Year Old (70cl, 46.3%)
The new, relaunched 12 year old, this single malt has been bottled at a slightly higher proof, negating the necessity for chill-filtration and as such retaining more of its original charm. A lovely dram from the Deanston distillery.
Deanston 15 Year Old Tequila Cask Finish 2007 (70cl, 52.5%)
This limited edition from Deanston distillery was finished in ex-tequila casks from Altos, Jalisco. Bottled at cask strength as a 15-year-old expression, the nose has rich, nutty and fruity aromas, joined on the palate by relatively dry notes of caramelised agave, baked apples and warm spices.
Deanston 18 Year Old (70cl, 46.3%)
An 18-year-old Deanston single malt matured in first-fill bourbon casks. The distillery’s characteristically honeyed, fruity character is turned up to eleven and supplemented by the fresh tropical flavours, and rich, airy vanilla notes of American oak, all married and mellowed by a long, 18-year rest. Fantastic stuff.
Deanston 21 Year Old 2000 Organic (70cl, 50.9%)
This limited edition single malt Scotch whisky from Deanston was made using organic malt and matured in organic ex-bourbon casks, before a finishing period in organic ex-fino sherry casks. At 21 years old, this Highlander is part of a limited annual release totalling 2,784 bottles. At a cask strength of 50.9%, non-chill filtered and with no added colouring, it’s a dram bursting with flavour, and an intriguing addition to the burgeoning category of environmentally conscious whiskies.
Deanston Kentucky Cask Matured 70cl, 40%
This funky looking bottle contains Deanston whisky with an emphasis very much on the Bourbon cask provenance.
The Highland distillery’s spirit has been aged a combination of first and second fill former Bourbon casks, before being treated to “soft filtration” and bottled.
The result is a light, crisp dram with notes of bright Bourbon oak, creamy grain, malt, vanilla, apples, pears, light pineapple, toffee, butter, a little peppery cinnamon spice and some honey.
The back label suggests enjoying this dram “any damn way you like”, highlighting its potential as a mixing malt. Indeed, we reckon this dram would do brilliantly served over ice with lemonade or cream soda.
Deanston Virgin Oak (70cl, 46.3%)
Deanston Virgin Oak is made with young whisky which has been finished in brand new oak casks from Kentucky. Always a pleasure to have Deanston single malt Scotch whisky around, as they are certified by the Organic Food Association and power their distillery using hydro energy, so you can always feel good about the delicious dram in your hand.
Deveron 12 Year Old (70cl, 40%)

Edradour 10 Year Old (5cl, 40%)
Edradour is one of Scotland’s smallest distilleries and at the heart of the range, this 10 year old Eastern Highlander is a rather unique single malt, a decidedly rum-like dram with a thick mouthfeel. The distillery’s methods of production remain virtually unchanged in the last 150 years, and we can see why. If it ain’t broke and all that. This single malt’s decade of ageing was spent in a combination of Oloroso sherry and bourbon casks. This is one sherry monster and we love it.

Edradour Ballechin 10 Year Old (70cl, 46%)
This is the core expression of 10 year old Ballechin single malt Scotch whisky, which is heavily peated whisky from Edradour. It has been named for the silent Ballechin distillery near the Edradour distillery. This 10 year old expression, however, comes from a combination of ex-Oloroso Sherry and ex-bourbon casks.
Emperor’s Way 4 Year Old That Boutique-y Whisky Company (50cl, 54.4%)
This single malt hails from the Hammerschmiede distillery in Germany. Boutique-y Whisky regulars will be familiar with the distillery’s Elsburn single malt, but here we have something different – Emperor’s Way is the name given to its peated, smoky expressions! Rather unusually, local German peat was used during malting, and the whisky was matured in an extremely rare first-fill Japanese mizunara oak cask. A cracking find from That Boutique-y Whisky Company, and just the thing to join its World of Smoke collection.

GlenAllachie 10 Year Old Cask Strength Batch 10 (70cl, 58.6%)

Each striving to better the last, Batch 10 is a true illustration of the artistry and expertise that creates every drop of our liquid gold. The result is a well-balanced, yet complex malt with distinctive notes of dark fruits and layers of warming sweet spice.
Presented in its purest form at natural cask strength of 58.6%, without added colouring or chill-filtration.

The casks were air dried for almost four years, then toasted to medium level before hosting the spirit.

GlenAllachie 10 Year Old Grattamacco Wine Cask Finish (70cl, 48%)
To craft The GlenAllachie Wine Series, we first expertly matured our spirit in American oak ex-Bourbon barrels. Subsequently, the whisky underwent additional maturation for over two years in wine barriques skilfully sourced by Master Distiller Billy Walker, imparting a distinctive twist onto the GlenAllachie spirit.
The second winery established in Tuscany’s renowned Bolgheri area, The Grattamacco Estate produces wines with a signature style of elegance. Complementing our fruit-forward Speyside spirit, maturation in these barriques have created a palate rich with juicy blackcurrant and sweet tannins. Truly embodying the complexities of the red wine previously held in each cask, the resulting whisky offers up honeyed elegance with a well-balanced finish.
This expression is bottled unchilfiltered for flavour with no added colouring at 48% ABV.

Originating from Portugal’s celebrated Douro Valley region, Ruby Port is typically more youthful than other Port styles with a vibrant and fruit-forward profile.

Specially selected for Europe, this Wood Collection bottling is presented at 48% ABV, natural colour and non-chill filtered, allowing the unique character to shine through.
