  • ( 0 Customer Review )

From the first series of whiskies by Meikle Tòir, a peated whisky brand made at GlenAllachie Distillery with the assistance of expert whisky maker Billy Walker, whose influence can certainly be seen here with this innovative cask profile. The single malt Scotch whisky, peated to 35ppm (using mainland St. Fergus peat, a sweeter variety than its coastal counterparts) and fermented for a lengthy 160 hours fermentation, was aged in American oak bourbon barrels followed by Chinquapin virgin oak casks, a bold barrel that imparts big, sweet, and rich flavours.

  • ( 0 Customer Review )

Meikle Tòir The Sherry One is a peated whisky made at GlenAllachie Distillery using mainland peat from St. Fergus. The whisky was peated to 35ppm and benefited from a lengthy fermentation period of 160 hours to create a fruity, complex spirit that could stand up to ageing in sherry casks, which is exactly what it did. Pedro Ximénez and oloroso sherry puncheons, to be exact, following an initial maturation in American oak bourbon barrels. One for fans of smoke and sherry.

Distilled using the same pot stills as the classic unpeated Tobermory expression, just with peated barley instead, the whisky boasts plumes of rich, earthy, almost medicinal smoke, with underlying fresh fruit and crushed spice notes. This particular expression ages for 10 years before bottled at the very specific strength of 46.3% ABV.

Laphroaig 10 Year Old (70cl, 40%)

In stock
  • ( 0 Customer Review )

Our 10 Year Old is the original Laphroaig, distilled the same way today as when Ian Hunter invented it more than 75 years ago. It is the foundation of all other Laphroaig expressions.

In making Laphroaig, malted barley is dried over a peat fire. The smoke from this peat, found only on Islay, gives Laphroaig its particularly rich flavour.

Those enjoying the 10 Year Old will first notice the bold, smoky taste, followed by a hint of seaweed and a surprising sweetness. This full-bodied variant is the foundation of all Laphroaig expressions and comes with a long finish.

This whisky was also named 2019 Best Single Malt Scotch 10 Years & Under by Jim Murrayâ Whisky Bible.

Making whisky (or whiskey) from scratch in Cyprus using local grains has always been our goal since we established Aristides Distilling. Now, it is also a reality! Our commitment, know-how, techniques, and passion together with some amazing local grains have enabled us to present to you a line of whiskies, we call Kythrea. The original Cyprus Whisky! The abundant sunshine and the rich volcanic soil are the secret combination behind the unique character and intense aroma of the grains, botanicals, and fruit grown on the island of Cyprus. We work exclusively with local sources to produce amazing spirits that reflect the beautiful nature of our island, from the field to this bottle.
The name Kythrea holds a special meaning to us! It’s the name of the local six-row barley variety we are using to make our whisky but also the name of our occupied ancestral home but it’s much more than that! Kythrea is a source of inspiration and strength that allows us to transform our longing for returning to our homes into a promise for hard work, innovation and creativity, and dedication to excellence! A promise that we will always put our Cypriot raw ingredients first!
This unfiltered Single Malt Whisky is unique and presents a balance of toasted oak and hints of vanilla, caramel, toffee, and butterscotch flavors blended with hidden spice undertones that reveal themselves towards the end. Aging in ex-bourbon casks and the well-balanced combination of local six-row barley “Kythrea” and wheat varieties make a unique recipe that offers a rich, full-bodied grain whiskey, the only one that is malted, fermented, distilled, and aged in Cyprus!

Glenfarclas 105 Cask Strength 1L, 60%

  • ( 0 Customer Review )

Gelenfarclas 105 Cask Strength doesn’t carry an age statement, but there are any suggestions that it is matured for 8-10 years in a combination of both ex-sherry an ex-bourbon barrels. Drying and rich it makes for a superb dram, one the Malt Maniacs rated as the best „Bang for your buck“ whisky in 2004. It is an excellent whisky with aromas of spices, citrus fruits and oloroso sherry. It introduces a world of flavours and make a fiery and strong experience.

Glenfarclas 105 is a superb cask strength whisky, with a history that can be traced to 1968. When the original incarnation was released that year, Glenfarclas became the first distillery to release a barrel proof single malt whisky.

The bottling was eventually re-named to 105, referring to its alcohol content in British Proof, which equates now to 60% ABV.

The 105 doesn’t carry an age statement presently, making it rare among Glenfarclas bottlings. Although, there are suggestions that it is matured for 8-10 years in a combination of both ex-sherry and ex-bourbon barrels.

Drying, assertive and richly spiced, the 105 makes for a superb dram, one the Malt Maniacs rated as the best “Bang for your buck” whisky in 2004. Add a drop of water if you please to explore its depth – and don’t be put off by that ABV, there’s plenty of flavour here to enjoy.

This whisky has been called a lot of things in its time: smooth, fruity, complex, sophisticated, entertaining, classic. The Original Malt Whisky Almanac says: “A first-class malt. One of the most popular malts in the world – deservedly so.” Representing The Glenlivet’s signature style, this classic malt is first matured in traditional oak, before spending time in American oak casks which impart notes of vanilla and gives the whisky it’s distinctive smoothness. The mineral-rich water that comes from Josie’s Well helps form the flavours during mashing and fermentation, whilst the specific height and width of the copper stills add a delicate yet complex character. Keep a bottle on hand for every occasion.

Laphroaig Quarter Cask (70cl, 48%)

In stock
  • ( 0 Customer Review )

This expression offers an irresistible doubling of flavour due to the double maturation in two casks made of American oak.

Still-maturing whisky from our standard ex-bourbon barrels is transferred to quarter casks and left to rest in our warehouse just a stone throw from the Atlantic shore.

This process represents Laphroaig breathing new life into a once-defunct tradition: the use of the smaller cask size, which ensures increased contact with the oak, creating a soft and velvety edge to complement Laphroaig distinctive peatiness.

On the nose the sensation is toffee and caramel, caused by the vanillas and tannins of the American oak, plus a dryness from the wood oil.

The finish is long and alternates between this sweetness and smoke.

STORY

VIKING HONOUR reflects the unique culture of our remote island home here on Orkney. Part of Scotland yes, but originally belonging to a vast Viking kingdom. At Highland Park, we honour the spirit of our Viking ancestors, sharing their pride, integrity and fierce independence, and we distill our award-winning whisky to the same exacting standards introduced in 1798 by our founder, Magnus Eunson, a descendant of those early Viking settlers.

I am a reflection of my ancestors and values. I keep them close and continue to learn, to pass on those values to future generations. My name is all I truly have. Let it be a legacy of honour.

Fino is the driest sherry style which is made by biologically aging the wine for at least two years under a ‘flor’: a yeast layer that prevents oxidation. It’s known for its pale appearance and delicate sweetness, which is harnessed by GlenAllachie for this whisky, finished in Fino sherry casks. It brings notes of sugared almonds, custard, and orchard fruit in a single malt Scotch whisky which was bottled at 48% ABV, non-chill filtered and with natural colour for The Wood Collection.

Glenfiddich 15 Year Old Solera 2020s (70cl, 40%)

In stock
  • ( 0 Customer Review )

Exemplifying our family’s tradition of innovation, our 15 Year Old expression is created using a technique pioneered by our Malt Master and its warm, spicy flavours are transformed with the alchemy of the Solera Vat.

Uniquely amongst Scotch whisky distillers, our Malt Master matures our Glenfiddich 15 Year Old in three types of oak cask, sherry, bourbon and new oak, to pervade it with rich fruit flavours and distinct spice and honey notes. He then marries it in our unique handcrafted Oregon pine Solera vat, which is always kept at least half full, to give it a beautiful balance and create a deliciously harmonious, consistent and complex whisky that gets increasingly complex over time.

Our Solera system is the culmination of curious minds and the pioneering spirit of our family. It’s also the secret behind this whisky becoming the first 15 year old expression to enter the top ten best selling single malts.

Great for experiencing a premium, mature, rich, silky smooth malt with an intriguingly complex aroma and subtle, sweet layers of sherry oak, marzipan, cinnamon and ginger.

  • ( 0 Customer Review )

Taking its name from the Gaelic for ‘dawn’, Moch is a wonderful newcomer from Caol Ila and is a must-try for fans of this outstanding distillery. Lighter in style than the standard 12yo expression, Moch is a fantastic easy-drinking dram.

Caol Ila Moch is the first single malt from the distillery to be selected entirely on the basis of its taste, rather than age, cask wood, strength or finish.

The nose is creamy and lemony, before a silky-smooth medium-bodied palate that still packs a peaty punch. The finish is dry, sooty and very more-ish.

Moch was available initially only to the Friends of the Classic Malts exclusively from The Whisky Exchange. We think it’s the best FOCM release in years and a very exciting addition to the Caol Ila family.
