Making whisky (or whiskey) from scratch in Cyprus using local grains has always been our goal since we established Aristides Distilling. Now, it is also a reality! Our commitment, know-how, techniques, and passion together with some amazing local grains have enabled us to present to you a line of whiskies, we call Kythrea. The original Cyprus Whisky! The abundant sunshine and the rich volcanic soil are the secret combination behind the unique character and intense aroma of the grains, botanicals, and fruit grown on the island of Cyprus. We work exclusively with local sources to produce amazing spirits that reflect the beautiful nature of our island, from the field to this bottle.The name Kythrea holds a special meaning to us! It’s the name of the local six-row barley variety we are using to make our whisky but also the name of our occupied ancestral home but it’s much more than that! Kythrea is a source of inspiration and strength that allows us to transform our longing for returning to our homes into a promise for hard work, innovation and creativity, and dedication to excellence! A promise that we will always put our Cypriot raw ingredients first!
