This is a rather intriguing bottling from the Springbank Distillery in Campbeltown, released under the Longrow name. It’s a seven year old single malt, which was distilled in 2000 and spent five and a half years in refill bourbon casks, before being moved over to Gaja Barolo wine casks, eventually being bottled up in 2008. 12,120 bottles were produced.

Description

Tasting Note

Nose: Sweet, musty and dusty, peat smoke, polished berries, strawberry, candyfloss, smoked icing sugar, becomes tarry but remains fruity, bramble, damson, jam, elderberry cordial, smoked scallop meat, an absolutely beautiful nose.

Taste: Full bodied, oily and silky initially on the palate, red grape, peat smoke, sugary with red fruits, plum, damson, bramble, again jam-like, alcohol builds, earthy/turfy peat, tannic oak wood, cherries black and red, chewy tobacco leaf, herbal and woody, delicious.

Finish: Long, chalky peat, mouth coating, soft smoked red fruits.
