The Famous Grouse Sherry Cask Finish has aromas of cocoa, sherry, cherries and light oak. Sweet on the tongue by the Sherry tones, herbs and some fruit. The aftertaste is full of flavor with notes of chocolate and spices.
Speyside malts were matured in Sherry-seasoned, European oak casks to craft Famous Grouse Sherry Cask Finish. The blend has been in development for two years.
Sanele Gwala, global senior brand manager at The Famous Grouse, explained: “This new, revived blend is finished in Sherry casks and butts seasoned in the region of Jerez, Spain. The aim was to create a blend that is slightly sweeter but still in keeping with the smooth and distinct DNA of classic Grouse.
“Once the blend is in its final stages of maturation, which involves the meticulous combination of hand selected malt and grain whiskies, The Famous Grouse master blender does not stop there; the full blend is married in ex-Sherry casks to further enhance their sweet, rich, and smooth characters.
“The Sherry Cask Finish is a decadent blend of festive flavours including chocolate, almonds, dried fruits, and sweet spices.”
The packaging pays tribute to the Spanish female capercaillie bird, part of the grouse family. This particular bird was chosen for its link to the product’s Spanish Sherry heritage, as well as its orange and red plumage, which ‘echoes the deep amber’ of the liquid.

Wilson & Morgan was founded in Italy in 1992 by Fabio Rossi, the son of prolific importer Mario Rossi Jr, who began distributing Scotch whisky back in the 1960s. His son’s company was one of a new generation of Italian bottlers established in the 1990s, which aimed to replicate the successes of predecessors like Samaroli and Moon Import.
This is a blend of 1980 vintage malt and grain whiskies, aged in sherry wood and bottled as 35 year old in 2015.

Islay Mist was created on Islay in the 1920s using whisky from the Laphroaig Distillery as well as choice Speyside distilleries. New for 2018, but not scheduled for release in Australia is this new JW expression, inspired by the iconic Black Label. It’s No.7 in the experimental series, and set exclusively for Travel Retail. The 12-year-old blend is described as “a smooth-sipping dark whisky with notes of vanilla and smoke, raisins and a warming finish of dark chocolate”. Composed of whiskies from Blair Athol, Cardhu and Strathmill distilleries, among others and finished in former Sherry casks for up to nine months, it was a collaborative effort between whisky maker, Aimée Gibson and Johnnie Walker’s Master Blender, Jim Beveridge.

How did you make this work:
Each Illustration was a massive undertaking with most of the PSD files ending up with over 2000 layers, every item on every pack consists of three layers each with a different colour, the glow the gold and the purple for example all blending into each other. the main trick of all the illustrations was getting the perspective of the different landmarks and buildings to work together.

Johnnie Walker is taking a tour of Scotland’s whisky regions with the Black Label Origins series! (Please note: we tried very hard to not make a “walking tour” joke here. You should be thankful.) This expressions explores the Highlands, and it’s a blended malt build exclusively with malt whiskies from the Highlands region, including the likes of Clynelish and Teaninich.
Released as part of the Johnnie Walker Black Label Origin series, this here is the Islay Origin expression! It marries a blend of Islay malts, including the likes of Caol Ila and Lagavulin. The whisky is designed to be just as delicious in dram form (yeah, that’s probably what it’s called) as it is in a Highball, and this particular expression works wonders when paired with ginger ale.
Here we have the only blended whisky from the Johnnie Walker Black Label Origin series (the rest are blended malts). This expression is made exclusively with whiskies from the Lowlands region, including malt whisky from Glenkinchie and grain whisky from Cameronbridge. The spirit was aged in bourbon casks before bottling, showcasing all those wonderful creamy notes we’ve come to know and love from the Lowlands.

Number two in Johnnie Walker’s collectable “Blender’s Batch” series comes with an American twist: Composed from five distilleries including grain whisky from the now-closed Port Dundas, this was aged in first-fill Bourbon barrels before a six month finishing in former American rye whiskey casks. The Ghost and Rare series from Johnnie Walker Blue Label kicked off in 2017 and took a break last year.
Diageo’s Johnnie Walker brand is readying the release of the fourth in its Ghost and Rare series of bottlings from the Blue Label expression.
A tribute to the now-defunct Pittyvaich distillery on Speyside, the no-age-statement blended malt will be available from next month in limited numbers. Whisky from two other closed distilleries, Port Dundas and Carsebridge, features in the blend along with liquid from Speyside’s Mannochmore, Auchroisk, Cragganmore and Strathmill as well as Royal Lochnagar in the Highlands.
Pittyvaich opened in 1974 before closing its doors 18 years later.
When contacted by Just Drinks, a spokesperson for Diageo declined to give specific quantities of the bottling, citing commercial sensitivity. However, each bottle will be “individually numbered”, according to the brand owner.
Johnnie Walker Blue Label Ghost & Rare Pittyvaich follows 2017’s Brora bottling, Port Ellen from a year later and 2019’s Glenury Royal in the series.

However a law suite was launched by the existing real life Explorer’s Club that included such legendary names as Buzz Aldrin and Sir Ernest Shackleton. The Club funds scientific Research and Education and did not want their name used for commercial purposes without their permission. A judge ruled in favour of the Club in August 2014 which forced Diageo to rethink their strategy with regards to the Explorer’s Club Collection. As a result, the Adventurer has become almost a rarity and a collector’s item despite its humble ambitions.”

Developed as a ‘luxury’ whisky, Walker’s Master Blender, Jim Beveridge comments, “We sought out only the very finest, beautifully balanced blends that have deep evocative flavours and a character to match. On the nose, there is a vast array of rich fruity flavours including apple, pear, fig and peach. Reflective of the beauty, rarity and exotic nature of the luxury goods that were exchanged on the royal trade route, it has an intense and complex flavour with notes of dried fruit and toffee, handsomely balanced with a subtle woody sweetness and a lingering wispy aromatic smoke. THE ROYAL ROUTE delivers far more depth of character, with richer, multiple layers on the palate.”This edition is inspired by the majestic history and the sights of the royal trading route, famed for bringing the luxuries of the world to the hands of Kings.
