    Macallan 1920s
During the 1920s, most Macallan produced was sold to whisky blenders as a “top dressing” single malt for their blended whiskies. The few remaining casks continued to mature their contents for longer, resulting in a whisky that was slightly drier and less toffee sweet than modern day Macallan.

    Macallan 1930s
During the 1930s, with coal in short supply as a result of increasing industrial activity, Macallan reverted to drying barley using peat fires. This, combined with the scarcity of oak sherry casks due to the Spanish civil war, resulted in a whisky that was both peatier and less spicy than modern day Macallan.

    Macallan 1940s
During the 1940s, with a shortage of sherry cask as a result of the Second World War, Macallan would refill their casks more often than is the current practice. This, combined with the use of peat to dry the barley, resulting in a whisky that was less spicy and peatier than modern day Macallan.

    Macallan 1950s
During the 1950s, Spanish oak sherry casks became available again following the disruption of the Second World War, allowing The Macallan to revert to using only first and second fill casks. This resulted in a whisky that was as rich and spicy as modern-day Macallan but with a hint of peat smoke.

Behold, the very final bottling in the Game of Thrones Single Malts Collection! We present to you Six Kingdoms, a beasty 15 Year Old Mortlach. Those of you who are all up to date with Game of Thrones lore (and if you aren’t, beware of spoilers ahead!) will remember that there were in fact, seven kingdoms in Westeros, but in the season finale the North became independent, taking the number down to six. The Speysider was matured in first-fill sherry casks, with a finish in American oak bourbon casks. The limited edition single malt is bottled at 46% ABV, presented in a metallic gold presentation tube, decorated with a pen and ink drawing of the mysterious three-eyed raven (aka Bran the Broken). The show may be over, but long may it live in the form of delicious whisky!

Expect dark fruit, treacle and punchy Christmas spice notes from this one…

The ancestral home of House Tully, Riverrun, sits at the junction of the Red Fork of the Trident and the Tumblestone River. The ruling Lord of the Riverlands, House Tully embodies the power and ferocity of the rivers it sits between. Using the power found in their positioning, House Tully forged strong alliances and built a history of honour, family and duty. Built along the banks of the River Fiddich, Glendullan Distillery originally relied on the waters it lay beside, using a water wheel to power the entire distillery. Like the Tullys themselves, this single malt can benefit from a splash of water, opening up flavours of green apple, honey and sweet vanilla.

Uniting a trio of different cask styles – Oloroso seasoned Pedro-Ximenez casks and ex-bourbon casks are hand-selected from the Dufftown archives and the single malt is married in European Oak casks, thus following the Singleton’s ‘Trinity Cask Harmony’ process. A remarkable release from the Singleton of Dufftown. This single malt combines whiskies matured for an impressive 25 years in a combination of sherry oak and ex-bourbon casks, expertly hand-picked from the Dufftown’s older stock by its Master of Malts, Maureen Robinson, and her team. The whiskies are then harmonised in toasted American oak casks, in what the team dub the ‘Trinity Cask Harmony’ process. A beautiful symphony of distilling prowess and cask influence, this is an exquisite expression!

In summary it can be stated that the Sir Edwards is a Scotch Whisky classic blend which reflects the best of Scotland. No excessive smoke, no tropical fruit or sea notes. Sir Edwards is still productive and puts its focus on soft refreshing facets. We tend to recommend Whisky “on the rocks” or to enjoy with cocktails.

Take the Sir Edwards Scotch Whisky, add a splash of lime juice as well as a slice of fresh lime and of course ice cubes. Then pour Cola over these ingredients. A fast, uncomplicated drink which will inspire you and give you joy. Pure and at room temperature also gives off a very good figure.
An attractive, bright amber color blended Whisky which creates the bridge between fresh, fruity and warm woody tones.

Tamnavulin Double Cask was the first release from the distillery since the 1990s! Over the past 20 or so years, the distillery changed hands from Invergordon Distillers to Whyte & MacKay, closed a few years later and reopened in 2007. Much of its single malt output is used in blends, but a few casks of single malt would sneak out as indie bottlings to allow us a rare taste of Tamnavulin – but now they’ve got their very own expression! They initially mature it in American oak barrels before treating them to a finishing period in Sherry casks.
