While the Tomintoul distillery is well-known for its laid-back expression (earning the nickname “the gentle dram”), it also produces a line of heavily-peated whiskies released under the Old Ballantruan name. This expression, launched in mid-2018, features smoky whisky matured for at least 15 years before bottling at 50% ABV.

Tasting Note
Nose:Â Roast chestnuts, pencil shavings, nectarine and a hint of sherry.
Palate:Â Campfire embers and red berries, joined by milky coffee later on.
Finish:Â Old leather and runny honey.
