Distilled by an earlier generation of Bruichladdich stillmen, this unpeated Bruichladdich spirit lay untouched in our loch-side warehouses for 17 short years before Jim had a vision for its future. In a risky turn, he transferred this already precious spirit into the finest French oak casks from Bordeaux of the very highest provenance. This final decade in Bordeaux wine casks brings structure, balance and layers of complexity to an otherwise simplistic dram. Just 12,000 bottles of the Bruichladdich HB’90 are available exclusively through Global Travel Retail. Each is individually numbered and bottled at a cask strength of 49.5% alc. Vol.
This expression was first filled into Bourbon casks before being moved to French wine casks in 2007. One of 12,000 bottles.

Distilled in 1990 then released for the 2007 Feis Ile on Islay. Named after a “phantom” oil tanker at the pier near Bruichladdich. The ship never managed to dock due to issues with it’s design and has been a local legend since.
Released for Feis 2007, this single malt was distilled in 1990. This bottling is named after a “phantom” oil tanker at the pier near Bruichladdich. The story goes such that the ship couldn’t dock due to it’s a flawed design. As you can imagine it has been a legend ever since.
The cask was a Bourbon Squat #525. Only 350 bottles were produced.

The Octomore 07.1 is a 5 year old single malt Scotch whisky, which has been peated to 208 PPM and bottled at 59.5% ABV. The Octomore expressions are always a treat and this one is as complex and intense as ever, while still maintaining a sense of poise and elegance. Oh, and peat. Plenty of yummy, smoky peat.
This limited edition release of the world’s most heavily peated whisky uses barley malted to a whopping 208ppm. Octomore 7.1 was released in 2015 and was the final expression turned out during Jim McEwen’s tenure at the distillery.

Distilled from barley peated to 167ppm (phenol parts per million) and matured in Virgin Oak – a first for the Bruichladdich brand – the Octomore 7.4 combines the smoky character of Octomore with sweet honey and vanilla notes from the casks.The nose has powerful smoke tempered by sweet rich oak and dried fruit, buttery toast, vanilla, pine needles and green apples with a dusting of cinnamon. The palate is sweet with peat smoke and toasted oak, before coconut, lemon peel, caramel and sweet orange come through. The finish is long and lingering with vanilla and honeysuckle fading into the smoke.

Canasta is a type of cream sherry produced by Williams & Humbert. It’s a rich medium sweet wine made from a blend of dry oloroso and sweet PX sherries. In short, it’s just the kind of thing you want seasoning your cask. This is a NAS (no age statement) release that has not been coloured or chill-filtered, and bottled at a nice healthy 51.2% ABV. As with most releases from Bunna, it is unpeated.

Taking its name from the Gaelic for ‘dawn’, Moch is a wonderful newcomer from Caol Ila and is a must-try for fans of this outstanding distillery. Lighter in style than the standard 12yo expression, Moch is a fantastic easy-drinking dram.
Caol Ila Moch is the first single malt from the distillery to be selected entirely on the basis of its taste, rather than age, cask wood, strength or finish.
The nose is creamy and lemony, before a silky-smooth medium-bodied palate that still packs a peaty punch. The finish is dry, sooty and very more-ish.
Moch was available initially only to the Friends of the Classic Malts exclusively from The Whisky Exchange. We think it’s the best FOCM release in years and a very exciting addition to the Caol Ila family.

Cu Dhub, pronounced “kaddoo,” is actually a very loose recreation of a whisky called Loch Dhu, which was bottled for only a few years in the ’90s and managed to attain a sort of cult following during that time. It was then finished in Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks from three historic cooperages in Jerez de la Frontera, creating a sweet and elegant character. First released in 2013, the Dalmore 25 is matured initially in American white oak before a second maturation in a combination of Palomino Fino sherry butts and first fill bourbon casks. These are then married together in bourbon barrels before a finishing period in Tawny Port pipes.
In 2013 Dalmore extended their core range of stunning whiskies with the Dalmore 25 Year Old. As a distillery that has a history of using an intricate selection of maturing methods, the 25 Year Old continues that tradition. First, it matured in American white oak cask. After that, it was hand-divided into 25 year old Palomino Fino sherry butts and 1980s first-fill bourbon casks. The 2017 release of Dalmore 40 Year Old was aged in bourbon casks for around 30 years, then aged in oloroso-sherry butts for a further seven before being finished in first-fill bourbon barrels. The result is a whisky with notes of gingerbread, maple syrup, honey and brioche.
A 2017 bottling of Dalmore 40 Year Old, presented in a Baccarat decanter. This was initially aged in American oak bourbon barrels before being transferred over to Matusalem Oloroso Sherry butts for seven years, and then transferred into first-fill bourbon barrels. This release coincided with Master Distiller and all-around good egg Richard Paterson’s 50th year in the whisky industry.
Wow – this Highland malt is something else. 40 years young and aged in a combination of American white oak, Matusalem oloroso sherry and Amoroso sherry casks, it bears the hallmarks of master blender Richard Paterson, who put his Midas touch to the blend. Definitive single malt whisky maker, The Dalmore, is releasing a refined new single malt, The Dalmore 45, to add to its exceptional collection.
The Dalmore 45 has been hand crafted by Master Distiller Richard Paterson who has used some of the distillery’s rarest aged liquids to create what Richard himself has described as ‘flawless perfection’.
Initially matured in American white oak ex-bourbon casks, the liquid has then been transferred into two different Vintage Graham’s Port Colheita pipes dating from 1961 and 1963 to create layers of flavour, which are indulgent, smooth and complex.
For its final flourish the whisky was then married together in first fill American white oak ex-bourbon casks providing The Dalmore 45 with a truly unrivalled finish. The Dalmore’s use of multiple casks is a fitting example of the distillery’s commitment to exquisite cask curation, which focuses on sourcing and utilising only the best casks from the world’s finest bodegas and wineries.
Purposefully retained at 40% ABV, The Dalmore 45 features exquisite flavours of red berries, soft liquorice, crushed hazelnuts, bitter chocolate and Manuka honey. This is followed by the sweet flavours of sticky toffee pudding, Bramley apples and juicy dates to finish.

This dram used to sit above the 12, and below the 15 in terms of both the price-point, and the age-profiles of the whisky that went into the blend, but the new version is a little different.

Dalmore Quintet has been finished in rare muscatel casks, Malmsey Madeira barrels, 30 year old matusalem sherry casks, 10 year old port casks and Cabernet Sauvignon casks from Bordeaux.
