Using his finely-honed distilling techniques, Freddy strove to create a vodka recipe that would evoke the memories of his Sicilian honeymoon. And it’s this recipe that led to the creation of Whitley Neill Blood Orange Gin. Post-war, the Whitley Family, now settled into rural England near Daresbury, cultivated their garden with thrilling flavours, serving as inspiration for both the table and indeed their experimentation with new Gins. Johnny’s latest Gin evokes childhood memories of visiting his grandparents on their farm by taking a firm Whitley family favourite in rhubarb and placed a warm twist on this with the addition of fresh ginger.

The word “barrister” comes from the English word “bar”, it is the barrier that separates the judge from the defendant. This is the highest rank of lawyer in Britain. From the fifteenth century, prisoners could instruct “a cultured and eloquent friend” to protect their interests. The lawyers had access to the “judicial bar”, so they could be heard by the court in the interest of their client. The lawyer’s speech in court is precise and sharp as a blade. In England it is said that the gin is “cold like steel”-due to the strong cold aftertaste.

Diageo’s Gordon’s gin brand extended its flavoured range last month with the launch of a new limited edition peach variant.
Gordon’s White Peach Distilled Gin follows the release of flavoured expressions Gordon’s Pink in 2017 and Gordon’s Sicilian Lemon in February this year. Diageo said the launch of Sicilian Lemon is the first in a number of Gordon’s flavour innovations scheduled for release in 2020.
The new White Peach variant is said to have the “naturally mellow flavour of white peach”. It is available to buy exclusively from UK supermarket Asda.

Soli London Dry Gin is distilled from 11 botanicals with juniper and coriander, citrus peels: grapefruit, lemon, sweet and bitter orange, some floral: chamomile, jasmine and orris root, and also cubeb berries.

The botanicals are added to the still with potable water and grain spirit distilled from wheat at 96%. Then closed and heat applied to bring the alcohol to boiling point.

The distillate is collected and subsequently adjusted with potable water to 42%.

Soli London Dry Gin at 42% is delicate and smooth, with a strong citrus aroma and fresh floral notes with a hint of pepper at the end.
