Johnnie Walker 18 Year Old (1L, 40%)
Johnnie Walker Aged 18 Years is a rebranding of the Johnnie Walker Platinum Label expression.
The expression draws on up to 18 whiskies from Scotland’s main whisky making regions, including classic Speyside malts from Cardhu, Glen Elgin and Auchroisk bringing a sweet and elegant character. Fruity Highland malts like Blair Athol bring a real complexity and island malts bring their characteristic subtle smokiness. Small, carefully judged amounts of Lowland grain whisky are instrumental in unlocking the flavours which can sometimes be constrained in older malts. All these vital components have been slowly matured over 18 long years to create a whisky of remarkable flavour and character.
From the earliest days of their business, the Walker family and subsequent generations of Master Blenders have crafted exclusive Scotch whiskies for the Directors of their company and for private gatherings – treasured whiskies that have only ever been shared with a select few, at special occasions.
Inspired by this tradition, Johnnie Walker The Pursuit of the Ultimate 18 is a supremely rich and full-flavoured 18 year old Scotch whisky, created for those truly special moments.

The Spice Road is the first in a sub-series named the Trade Route Series – the whiskies are inspired by the cultural richness that can be found on three of the world’s great trade routes.
Spice Road will be followed by ‘The Gold Route”, with tropical flavours designed to reflect the aromas of the Caribbean and Latin America, due for release in March or April next year. Finally, Johnnie Walker ”The Royal Silk Route”, the most expensive of the line-up, will hit airport shelves in May or June. We’ll see if we can source these releases as they go to market.

This aged version of the classic Red Label enjoys a similar cult following. Its unique complexity is achieved by expertly blending an extremely diverse, but complementary range of malt whiskies, each of which has been matured for a minimum of 12 years and some for much longer. In total, up to 40 malts and grain whiskies make up the Black Label blend. Island and Islay malts deliver spice, richness and lingering peat. Speyside malts make an important contribution to the depth of taste, bringing smoky malt, fruitiness, apple freshness and a rich sherry character to the blend. At the heart of Black Label lies 12 year old Cardhu, an outstanding malt from Speyside, which imparts silkiness, a characteristic which has made it famous as a single malt.
To date, Black Label has won more international awards for excellence than any other deluxe whisky. In the 1880s, Old Highland won medals in Sydney and Paris. Over 100 years later, in 1994, Black Label picked up gold medals at the 1994 Monde Selection Awards and the International Wine and Spirit Competition (IWSC), where it also won a trophy for Best Blended Whisky. On the nose, there is a vast array of rich fruity flavours including apple, pear, fig and peach. Reflective of the beauty, rarity and exotic nature of the luxury goods that were exchanged on the royal trade route, it has an intense and complex flavour with notes of dried fruit and toffee, handsomely balanced with a subtle woody sweetness and a lingering wispy aromatic smoke. THE ROYAL ROUTE delivers far more depth of character, with richer, multiple layers on the palate.”This edition is inspired by the majestic history and the sights of the royal trading route, famed for bringing the luxuries of the world to the hands of Kings. The travelers’ tales of the legendary journeys that took place on this road, the precious silks, Persian ornaments, diamonds and pearls that were traded along it, inspired Jim Beveridge to create what is the most opulent variant in the series.

Johnnie Walker Blenders’ Batch Wine Cask Blend is the perfect example of a journey into flavour discovery. It began with an experiment set in motion by Jim Beveridge over ten years ago which involved maturing whisky in casks that had previously held wine. Many were tried and tested, but it was the former wine casks where blender Aimée Gibson uncovered a palette of incredible new flavours through some experiments of her own. These all eventually became part of the final blend. The result is an exceptionally fruity Scotch, full of lively fresh berry and sweet toffee flavours.

We’ve managed to secure tiny quantities from a secret source in order to satisfy CYPRIOT followers of the brand who otherwise wouldn’t have the opportunity to obtain these limited editions. So far the Trade Routes series has included The Spice Road, The Gold Route and The Royal Route. However, there’s a missing link that’s arguably the most collectable of all.
Jan van den Ende , writing for ‘Best Shot Whisky Reviews’ explains, “It is likely that The Adventurer was the first of a new series within The Explorer’s Club Collection. However a law suite was launched by the existing real life Explorer’s Club that included such legendary names as Buzz Aldrin and Sir Ernest Shackleton. The Club funds scientific Research and Education and did not want their name used for commercial purposes without their permission. A judge ruled in favour of the Club in August 2014 which forced Diageo to rethink their strategy with regards to the Explorer’s Club Collection. As a result, the Adventurer has become almost a rarity and a collector’s item despite its humble ambitions.”

In 1996, it won gold again at IWSC for the best deluxe Scotch Whisky. 40% Alc./Vol.
