In celebration of Master Distiller Billy Walker’s half-century long career in the whisky industry, we are delighted to unveil the second in The Past, Present and Future Series: The GlenAllachie 50th Anniversary Present Edition.
This rare expression illustrates Billy’s present, where he is avidly implementing an incredibly innovative cask management policy. After initial maturation in PX and Oloroso Sherry casks, the spirit enjoyed secondary aging in specially selected Mizunara casks, a very scarce and expensive species of Japanese oak. Notoriously difficult to cooper and prone to leaking, these casks are rarely used for whisky maturation. Although posing difficulties, their porous nature lends to the spirit sinking deeper into the wood, imparting complex notes of sandalwood and cinnamon.
Presented at 48%, with no added colour or chill filtration for maximum flavour.
Limited release of 2,900 bottles worldwide.

This bottling represents Walker’s past when he made a name for himself by releasing heavily sherried expressions to great acclaim. A combination of nine 2005 vintage Spanish Sherry butts, this 100% Sherry matured malt is overflowing with rich espresso, heather honey, glazed figs and sweet spices.
Presented at natural cask strength of 57.1%, with no added colouring and non chill filtered for maximum flavour.

Originally added to the GlenAllachie core range in 2019, this 15-year-old single malt underwent a redesign in 2024. The whisky was treated to a finishing period in sherry casks before bottling. The casks in question were a combination of puncheons and hogsheads that previously held Pedro Ximénez and oloroso sherry. Master distiller Billy Walker described this expression as having an “exceptional balance of the distillery’s spirit and the influence of the sherry casks used during maturation.” We’d have to agree.

To craft The GlenAllachie Wine Series, we first expertly matured our spirit in American oak ex-Bourbon barrels. Subsequently, the whisky underwent additional maturation for over two years in wine barriques skilfully sourced by Master Distiller Billy Walker, imparting a distinctive twist onto the GlenAllachie spirit.
These particular French oak barriques were procured from one of just five Premier Cru Classé chateaux located in the world-renowned wine region of Bordeaux, France. Top of the official Bordeaux wine classification, these estates are considered to produce wines of the highest quality and flavour. Maturation in casks which previously held such full-bodied red wine has imbibed our honeyed spirit with deep notes of black cherry and smooth espresso. The resulting golden malt delivers a truly refined yet complex drinking experience.
This expression is bottled unchilfiltered for flavour with no added colouring at 48% ABV.

To craft The GlenAllachie Wine Cask Series, Master Blender Billy Walker first expertly matured our spirit in the finest American oak ex-Bourbon barrels, before transferring the whisky into hand-selected European wine barriques for secondary aging. Billy added a distinctive twist to this release by ultimately blending four exceptional wine cask finishes into one unique expression: The Cuvée Wine Cask Finish.
The next release of our Cuvée, bottled in 2023, is a harmonious marriage of whisky matured in barriques which previously held premium red wine. The finest casks were hand-picked from the French AOC (Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée) regions of Languedoc and Médoc whilst, across the border, Grattamacco and Recioto della Valpolicella barriques from Italy were sourced to host our honeyed spirit.
Once expertly blended, the resulting golden liquid delivers an exceptionally opulent drinking experience. Expect layers of robust red fruits and gentle spice alongside hints of citrusfrom this smooth yet characterful limited malt.

Glenallachie distillery was established in 1967 in Speyside, and since 2017 has been the playground of master distiller Billy Walker – a 50-year veteran in the Scotch whisky industry. Under his watchful eye, the Glenallachie distillery has launched several innovative whisky expressions and series.
This 10-year-old single malt joins batch three of GlenAllachie’s Virgin Oak Series, which explores the subtle differences imparted by maturation in various species of oak. From Batch 2 of our Virgin Oak Series, this exceptional malt was first matured in American oak ex-Bourbon barrels before undergoing additional maturation in casks made of Chinquapin Oak (Quercus Muehlenbergii), which is sourced from the Northern Ozark region in Missouri for approximately 18 months. The casks were air dried for almost four years, then toasted to medium level before hosting the spirit.
The result is a complex, zesty malt bursting with runny honey, sweet cinnamon and orange peel.

The result is a nose that bursts with mocha, nutmeg and walnut aromas, followed by heather honey, sweet raisins and dried berries. This glorious Glen Grant single malt spent a whole three decades maturing between 1990 and 2021. Intensified by time in a sherry cask around one-eighth of the size of a standard butt (allowing more rapid interaction between the whisky and the cask), the team at indie bottler Duncan Taylor spotted that it was a special dram, and a worthy whisky to bottle up for The Octave series.
