A triple distilled blended Irish Whiskey produced in Cork and made, unusually, with all three styles of Irish whiskey: single pot still, single malt and grain. First produced in 1779, it wasn’t until 1913 that it changed it’s name to Paddy after legendary salesman Paddy Flaherty. Before that it had the rather catchy name of “Cork Distilling Company Map of Ireland Old Irish Whiskey”. Rolls right off the tongue that one.

La RoblerÃa Vineyard, Colchagua Valley Syrah 100%
Pangea is a well-rounded, distinguished wine with an intense, dark color. It has delicious, complex aromas which come through in the mouth with soft notes of red and blueberries, harmoniously intermingled with spices like black pepper, dark chocolate and subtle notes of vanilla and caramel. This wine has an exceptional combination of concentration, flavors and aromas. Pangea is at essence a Syrah from the Apalta Valley that faithfully expresses its terroir of granitic soils with high quartz content, properties that are reflected in every glass. This is a well-structured wine with plenty of acidity and ripe, firm tannins. We recommend decanting it prior to drinking.
With grapes from a selection of soils in Apalta and a special fermentation, we have achieved a full-bodied, concentrated wine. 18 months in French oak barrels and one year in the bottle have brought balance and roundness to the wine and concentrated the purity and elegance of the fruit.
A French wine produced in Normandy by distilling cider. Exceptionally warm, fragrant, and captivating, it matures for three years in oak barrels before bottling. Despite maturation, it retains its characteristic fresh apple note, while simultaneously acquiring a harmonious and delicate smoothness. On the nose, along with apple, there are aromas of dried fruit and linden honey. The palate is rounded with a subtle spicy oak note. Serve as a digestif between meals (so-called trou Normand).
Papidoux VSOP is an elegant calvados from the French region of Normandy, distilled at the renowned Distillerie de Cormeilles. This apple distillate is aged for at least five years in oak barrels, giving it a complex and balanced character. Its production is the result of a careful selection of the highest quality young distillates, which are blended into a harmonious whole.
The aroma of calvados is elegant, fruity and warm, with aromas of dried apples, dried apricots and ripe dates. The taste is round, fruity and pleasantly warming, with hints of fresh and dried apples, complemented by tones of caramel.
Papidoux VSOP is ideal as a digestif after a meal, served neat at room temperature to allow its aroma and taste to fully develop. Thanks to its complexity and finesse, it is also suitable for special occasions or as a gift for connoisseurs of quality spirits.
This classic from the North of Italy is a delicious sparkler with aromatic pear flavours on the nose followed by a crisp palate of succulent apple and pear. Gently foamy, with a crisp and delicate finish, drink on it’s own or in true venetian style, as a Bellini.

America is home to an array of distinctive hats, including baseball caps, Stetsons and even whoopee caps. Why are we talking about American headwear? Because the Peaky Blinder range now features a bourbon whiskey, of course! The connection is pretty clear, what with the name coming from a gang who apparently modified their hats to be used as weapons and bourbon being… Well, American. Anyway, this is a rather tasty and good value-for-money bourbon produced in Indiana for the Peaky Blinder range, which should do well for a variety of classic cocktails.
This is an Irish whiskey that has enjoyed a finishing period in Sherry casks before being bottled as part of the Peaky Blinder range from Sadler’s. The name comes from a street gang that was around in the late 19th and early 20th Century, a member of which you can see on the label – note the all important cap, which apparently was where the gang name originates.

A frankly monstrous whisky from blenders and bottlers Fox Fitzgerald, this is Peat’s Beast at a whopping 54.1% ABV. Peat’s Beast is a single malt from a mystery Islay distillery, adding further intrigue to this delicious and smoky whisky. The complexity in this dram has been kicked up a notch, not just by its strength, but by its finishing period in Pedro Ximinez Sherry casks. Pedro Ximinez is the sweetest style of sherry, and here it marries perfectly with the robust smoky flavours of this whisky. The nose brings huge smoky aromas, with a dense grassy and earthy peat, accompanied by a sherried fruit, and some thick malty notes. The palate is hot and thick, with a buttery caramel flavour accompanied by peat smoke and succulent stone fruit: plums and cherries. The finish is smoky and medium in length with a little toasted woodspice. This whisky is non-chill-filtered, so the drinker gets to enjoy all the texture and flavour of the spirit at its best.

Plantation Master Blender Alexandre Gabriel has made it his life’s mission to explore the terroirs of rum, from its birthplace in the Caribbean to the furthest reaches of the South Pacific. Aided by Rum Co. of Fiji’s Master Distiller, Liam Costello, Alexandre meticulously selected just 18 casks of a 2004 vintage column still rum filtered through coconut carbon. Aged in the tropics for 17 years before journeying across two oceans, this formidable Viti rum’s journey ends in the southwest of France, with four-years of maturation in Ferrand Cognac casks.
Alexandre’s choice bursts with power, structure and just a hint of smoke. Intense coffee, vanilla and fudge notes intertwine on the nose, followed by fruity and spicy tones, brightened by citrus peel and deepened by tobacco. The extra-long finish lingers with cherry, cloves and cocoa.

A 2010-vintage Venezuelan rum from Plantation that was first matured for eight years in ex-bourbon barrels in Destiloeria Sofa’s cellars. This 100% pot still Jamaican rum made with a blend of spirits from Long Pond and Clarendon distilleries, which Maison Ferrand now owns a third of after purchasing the West Indies Rum Distillery in 2017. Master blender Alexandre Gabriel created the Xaymaca (pronounced zay-muck-uh) brand, which is the original name for Jamaica that the indigenous Arawaks, who inhabited Jamaica well before Columbus set foot on the island in 1494, gave it. Xaymaca actually means ‘land of wood and water.’
Aged in Bourbon casks, then in Ferrand barrels, this old Barbadian rum owes its sophisticated aromatic complexity to the different species of wood used and their various degrees of toasting, as well as to different climates: tropical in Barbados and continental in France, where both dry and humid cellars are used.
From nose to mouth, it expresses a rich palate of chocolate and ripe banana, with fresh and delicious mango notes. Lastly, a remarkably long finish makes Plantation XO a true sipping rum.

This is bottled at 57.1% ABV – which is 100° Proof in a traditional system of alcohol content measurement (different from 100 proof, which you’re much more likely to see on American bottlings).

Complex, coastal and peaty, this Islay single malt has herbal aromas of mint, smoked tea leaves and pine, alongside almonds, tropical fruits and vanilla. The palate offers notes of orange peel, custard and cinnamon, alongside salty, savoury notes.

A rare bottling of Prince Charlie Special Reserve blended Scotch whisky, produced by Lawson & Smith back in the 1980s. It was named after Bonnie Prince Charlie himself, and features his silhouette on the label.
A whisky dedicated to the memory of the last Scottish Prince – Charles Edward Stuart, the legend known as Bonnie Prince Charlie .
Era and Bottling Style:
Prince Charlie Special Reserve from the 1970s-80s is likely a blend, as the “Special Reserve” designation generally refers to a higher-quality blended Scotch. During this period, whisky blends often emphasized smoothness and balance, with an emphasis on sherry cask influence and well-aged malts. So, I drew from the general characteristics of Scotch blends from that time, which often had a smooth, honeyed sweetness, mild fruitiness, subtle spices, and gentle oak influence.
Brand History:
Prince Charlie, while less widely known, was marketed as a premium offering in that era. The blend would have been created with a balance of malt and grain whiskies, likely with a good amount of older stock to maintain a smooth, refined profile. Whiskies from that time period often had a higher percentage of malt whiskies, contributing to the richer, more complex characteristics that I described.
Common Tasting Notes for 1970s-80s Bottlings:
In general, whiskies bottled in the 1970s-1980s (both blends and single malts) tended to have certain common characteristics due to production methods and cask aging practices of the time. These included a smoother mouthfeel, more pronounced sherry cask influence (especially with dried fruit, caramel, and spices), and a gentler, less peated profile compared to some of the more intense modern expressions.

A classic British Navy style rum, Pusser’s Gunpowder Proof rum has rich notes of treacle, toffee, honey and vanilla throughout the palate, alongside oak, cinnamon and ginger. Taking its name from the naval tradition of providing sailors a daily ration of rum, distributed by the Purser – or Pusser. The Pusser would dispel any complaints of watering down the rum by wetting a pinch of gunpowder with the rum and attempting to light it. If the mixture ignited it was “proof” that the rum was strong enough.
The superb rum in this bottle is at “cask strength” as it was shipped to the Royal Navy victualling yards in Deptford, Gosport and Devonport for blending and dilution “to Proof”. The blend of rums in this bottle are aged a minimum of three years and produced in accordance with Admiralty regulation for rum in effect at the time of the custom’s termination in 1970. the contents in this proprietary blend have been aged a minimum of three years and chill-filtered to further enhance its flavour and smoothness.
Origin: Guyana
The bottle based on the design of those kept by ship’s captains and pirate during the 19th Century. The rums in this blend are aged as much as fifteen years in American oak and French Limousin barrels.
