Whisky (or whiskey) is produced in various guises all over the world. Japanese Whisky, Irish Whiskey and American Whiskeys (including Bourbon) are challenging Scotch Whisky, with of them many winning notable awards and accolades. The distillation process spread to Scotland and Ireland by the 15th century via Alexandrian Greeks, Medieval Arabs and Latin Europeans. The Scots and the Irish, who already had a well-developed tradition of farming cereal crops, used the technique to distil from a variety of fermented grain mashes to produce a spirit, most closely resembling today’s new make spirits.

Penderyn Legend is a Welsh single malt whisky firstly matured in bourbon barrels and finished in ex-Madeira casks before it’s bottled, imparting an intriguing touch of vibrant sweetness. It has been bottled at 41% ABV, slightly lower than the Welsh distillers’ other Madeira-cask-finished single malt.
A blended Irish whiskey here from the Kinahan’s range, which was originally established all the way back in 1779! Over the years Kinahan’s received two royal warrants and became the whiskey of choice for legendary American bartender Jerry Thomas. It disappeared during the 1900s, however, but it’s recently been relaunched on the very same street in Dublin where it was founded all the way back then – Trinity Street.
Undoubtedly anything but a classic whiskey, already on the nose can be seen that you can expect here neither a single malt nor a boring standard blend. As a liquorice friend who appreciates sweet, sticky liquorice liquor almost 😉 as well as a beautiful Irishman or a hefty sweet Scot, I recognize the best of both worlds here. As a whiskey, I would give the Cutty Sark Black no 30 points, but he is too little “pure”, too little deep, not enough aromatic. As an alcoholic liquorice drink, however, the 77 points that I simply give out here are more than just earned.
Part of the new core range of whiskies launched by Isle of Jura in early 2018, this 10 year old expression takes the place of Jura Origin. It’s initially aged in American white oak bourbon barrels before enjoying a finishing period in Oloroso sherry butts and bottled at 40% ABV. Described as Old No. 7 whiskey with the heat and spice of a red hot cinnamon liqueur, Tennessee Fire was the second flavored whiskey Jack Daniel’s released in a 3 year period, with Tennessee Honey in 2011 being the first.
Offered at 70 proof and in a variety of sizes, this whiskey first became available in April of 2014. This was considered a test launch with bottles only being sold in Tennessee, Oregon, and Pennsylvania. In October of 2014, five more States began receiving distribution of Tennessee Fire and by March of 2015 it was available in all 50 States.

Royal Salute 21 Year is an homage by Chivas Regal to the newly crowned Queen Elizabeth II in 1953. At 21 years, it is also the youngest in the Royal Salute line-up. Why 21 years old you might ask? 21 is an important designation as it refers to the 21-gun-salute, for generations a form of honor and respect to sovereigns and dignitaries. Be aware that there are 3 different colors for the ceramic decanters (sapphire, ruby, and emerald), but the spirit is the same.

Tel Aviv’s Milk & Honey Distillery has released its very first single malt! Called the Classic expression, it was matured in bourbon and virgin oak casks as well as red wine-seasoned STR (shaved, toasted and recharred) casks. There’s a wonderful balance of hallmark honey notes alongside malt sweetness and rich chocolate. We can’t wait to see what else is to come from the team in Israel!
This entry level Bunnahabhain bottling comes in a redesigned bottle. This 12 year old is lightly peated for an Islay single malt and consequently is a light, fresh dram. Now at the higher strength of 46.3% – for more complexity and flavour.

The Wee Jim Beam Glass, sometimes called the Distillers glass, is a smaller version of the traditional Glencairn Whisky Glass. It measures 3 3/8″ tall and 2″ wide and has a 2.5 oz. capacity. “Wee Glencairn Glass” is stamped on the bottom indicating it is a genuine Glencairn glass.

A straightforward, nutty and malty single malt from Speyside, the Singleton of Dufftown was released to replace the Singleton of Auchroisk. It’s aged in a high proportion of European oak casks.

In summary it can be stated that the Sir Edwards is a Scotch Whisky classic blend which reflects the best of Scotland. No excessive smoke, no tropical fruit or sea notes. Sir Edwards is still productive and puts its focus on soft refreshing facets. We tend to recommend Whisky “on the rocks” or to enjoy with cocktails.

Officially launched in 2006, this 10 year old lies at the heart of the Isle of Arran range and exudes all the honeyed richness we have come to associate with the island distillery.
Edradour is one of Scotland’s smallest distilleries and at the heart of the range, this 10 year old Eastern Highlander is a rather unique single malt, a decidedly rum-like dram with a thick mouthfeel. The distillery’s methods of production remain virtually unchanged in the last 150 years, and we can see why. If it ain’t broke and all that. This single malt’s decade of ageing was spent in a combination of Oloroso sherry and bourbon casks. This is one sherry monster and we love it.
