For this batch he selected 12 Sherry butts with vintages varying from 1989 to 1992, 11 American oak hogsheads filled in 1989 and 8 refill American oak butts from 1992 and 1993. These were married for several months. Included with this bottle is a sheet with graphical representations of the flavour profile of the whisky from each of 31 casks used!

The follow-up to the distillery’s incredibly popular Tun 1401 series, Tun 1509 is made with a bigger marrying tun and continues to be absolutely fantastic. For the second batch, they used 32 casks – 23 American oak casks and 9 European oak Sherry casks, and allowed to marry for a few months before being bottled at 50.3% ABV. 8500 bottles were produced in total.

Macallan 18 Year Old Single Malt 1994 Special Box Release Original Box
Macallan vintage releases produced by Campbell, Hope & King tended to be aged around the 15 year old mark, but when Macallan took over the responsibility in 1980, they toyed for a few releases with more advanced age-statements of 17 and 18 years old. The latter was deemed the optimum maturation, and the official 18 year old was launched in 1984. It is now an absolute classic of the whisky world. This is the release of Macallan 18 Year Old that carried a vintage. In this case, the whiskies were distilled in 1994 and earlier years.
The famous Macallan 18 year old no longer carries the vintage that the spirit was originally distilled in. This is the final release carrying that year.
