The Week Of Peat story begins with distillery manager Ian Millar’s eagle eye spotting a weeks gap in the distillery schedule. Eager to experiment with The Balvenie profile using what he had learnt from a recent trip to Islay, he ordered a batch of Speyside peat for the kiln and built a peat burner on the side “for, well, extra peatiness”. The whisky produced is rich in honey, vanilla and citrus notes with an extra layer of delicate smoke.
The Balvenie Distillery is built on age-old traditions and stories which are passed on from one generation of craftsmen to the next. The Balvenie Stories are a range of exclusive single malt whiskies, each representing tales of character, endeavour and craft.

Highland Park Dark Origins is a new core bottling that celebrates the early days of Magnus Eunson’s illicit distilling on Orkney, back before the distillery was even founded in 1798. Magnus worked as a butcher and church official by day, but by night he was a legendary whisky smuggler and distiller outwitting the exciseman.
To honour their hero (the Batman of the Orkney Islands, if you will), Highland Park have created a whisky with a suitably ‘dark’ character. Using 80% first-fill Sherry casks (20% refill) – 60% are first-fill European oak, with 20% being first-fill American oak – an exciting, spicy, chocolatey whisky has been produced.

A proud and loyal family, the Starks were true to those they swore allegiance to – First House Targaryen and later House Baratheon. However, every noble family has a vulnerable side, and the Starks are no different. Living in the North they are often caught with a warning passing their lips: Winter is coming. Like House Stark, Dalwhinnie distillery are northerners through and through. One of the highest and coldest distilleries in Scotland, the extreme weather and cold temperatures experienced at Dalwhinnie are reflected in the fact that this single malt is best served chilled, or over ice, to highlight its signature honey and spice characteristics.
Aged in ex-bourbon casks, this light gold single malt gently opens to flavours of honeyed figs and delicious malt balls, finishing with rich fruitcake sweetness. In honour of 125 years of whisky production, Glenfiddich released this limited edition single malt Scotch whisky in 2012. For this expression, the chaps at Glenfiddich have used a combination of peated and unpeated whiskies aged in a large proportion of Spanish ex-Sherry butts, as well as American ex-bourbon casks. It was presented alongside a copper stopper, a leaflet giving some background on the release and a handsome presentation case. What better way to celebrate 125 years of Glenfiddich whisky than with more of it?
The whisky is beautifully presented, with a copper cork, metal box and information leaflet. STORY
Released in 2013, Sigurd is part of The Warrior Series, a collection of single malts created for Duty-Free to both introduce a key figure from Orkney’s Viking history and to demonstrate the impact of cask type on our whisky’s flavour, which is immense.
The single malt is named after one of the most feared Viking earls in the Orkneyinga Saga. The symbol is a sword of Sigurd which he inherited from his dead father. The Sigurd whisky comes in a beautiful wooden box and as soon as the whisky is in your glass, you imagine yourself in the middle of this saga!
Sigurd was one of the most feared Viking warriors considered to be strong, courageous and in possession of a warriors instinct as razor sharp as the sword he carried by his side.
