The Macallan 12 Year Old Gran Reserva is one of the richest, darkest and most delicious 12 Year Olds to come out of the hugely famous Speyside distillery. The whisky was created to celebrate the expertise and mastery the distillery and their dedication to maturing their whisky in only the finest Oloroso sherry oak casks available. Expect deep and rich notes of sherried fruits, dark chocolate and a range of spices in this rare and collectable dram. Sitting in the brand’s ‘Double Cask’ series, the single malt consists of liquid matured in both Sherry-seasoned American and European oak casks. The Macallan Double Cask 30 Years Old joins the ‘gold’, 12-, 15- and 18-year-old expressions in the series.
The Macallan Double Cask 30 Years Old, aged for thirty years in a harmonious union of American and European oak sherry seasoned casks, to create a unique taste and character.
Acclaimed photographer and artist Erik Madigan Heck was inspired by nature and the landscape of The Macallan Estate when capturing the complex flavour of The Macallan Double Cask 30 Years Old.
The whisky itself is a rich and luxurious medley of flavour, and Erik Madigan Heck used natural light to capture this depth of character in his still life. The reflective surface enhances the idea of flavours blending– almost as if seamlessly merging together as one – with the soft focus echoing the long-lasting taste experience.
The whisky’s golden acorn natural colour is the focal point of the shot. Its rich tone and translucent glow has influenced the colour palette of the piece as a whole, with the soft caramels and browns and pops of red and green once more showcasing the depth of its flavour profile.

A beautiful, extremely limited edition Macallan released for travel retail, Oscuro is made with whisky from 1987 and 1997 and it’s sherried and incredibly rich.
This is the 2015 redesign of the packaging, now presented in the premium decanter style bottle first used for the Macallan Reflexion.
Dark, lusciously rich and satisfying. The Macallan Oscuro is drawn exclusively from oak casks seasoned with Oloroso Sherry. An exceptionally high proportion of these are first fill, which endow the whisky with a rich, deep Burnished copper colour and intense flavour. When the casks are at the peak of maturation, the whisky is gently reduced to 46.5% alcohol by volume with natural spring water drawn from boreholes deep under The Macallan Estate. It is then matured in slumbering casks for at least six months, allowing the flavours to blend. It undergoes no further strength reduction and is filtered non-chill at ambient room temperature before being bottled.
