Laphroaig 33 Year Old 2021 The Ian Hunter Story Book 3 70cl, 49.9%
INTRODUCING THE THIRD CHAPTER OF THE IAN HUNTER STORY
A COLLECTIBLE SERIES OF LAPHROAIG® AGED WHISKIES
Introducing the third release in our Ian Hunter series: a 33-year-old non-chill altered whisky with creamy liquorice notes, fully matured in ex-Bourbon barrels so that Laphroaig‘s characteristic peatiness shines through.
The third release of the Ian Hunter Series is to celebrate the legacy of the last of the Johnston family to own and manage the Laphroaig® distillery, and his fight to protect the Kilbride Stream. This is a story of uncompromising guardianship and a battle between neighbours, over every distillery’s essential lifeblood, its source of water.
The third release of the Ian Hunter Story is a 33 Year Old single malt that has been matured exclusively in ex-Bourbon casks, allowing the iconic Laphroaig peatiness to shine through. Aromas of pears, peaches, honey, rose petals, nutmeg and ashy peat smoke fill the nose, complemented by notes of stewed apples, aniseed, creamy liquorice and acrid peat throughout the palate.
A limited edition Laphroaig 30 year old part of the Ian Hunter Story, this is Book 3 – Source Protector.

Laphroaig An Cuan Mòr (70cl, 48%)
An Cuan Mòr is one of the selection of Laphroaig single malt Scotch whiskies released for the Travel Retail market. For the An Cuan Mòr, which means ‘Big Ocean’ in Gaelic, the whisky is initially matured in first-fill American white oak bourbon barrel and then finished in European oak casks.
Laphroaig Brodir (70cl, 48%)
Laphroaig’s Brodir single malt Scotch whisky was originally released to the Travel Retail market. You can probably guess what ‘Brodir’ means in ancient Norse – of course, it’s ‘Brother’.
For this expression, the Islay distillers first matured the whisky in ex-bourbon barrels before transferring it over to casks which previous held Ruby Port. The combination of Laphroaig’s classic coastal peaty gorgeousness with the elegance of the Ruby Port finish make Brodir a very handsome dram indeed.
Laphroaig Cairdeas 15 Year Old Friends of Laphroaig 2017 (70cl, 43%)
Laphroaig Cairdeas 15 Year Old is a well-peated single malt from Islay, matured entirely in first-fill ex-bourbon barrels. If you’re a fan of rather savoury whiskies that boast heavy wafts of TCP, smoked meats and sea breeze, this is one you need to pay attention to.

Laphroaig Oak Select (70cl, 40%)
For the Laphroaig Oak Select, the Islay distillery has taken whisky from a number of different types of cask, including oloroso sherry butts, white American oak, Pedro Ximenez seasoned hoggies, quarter casks, and first-fill bourbon casks. Quite a selection, wouldn’t you say? A laid-back addition to the Laphroaig core range of single malts.
Laphroaig PX Cask Triple Matured Edition 2023 (1L, 48%)
Laphroaig Quarter Cask (70cl, 48%)
This expression offers an irresistible doubling of flavour due to the double maturation in two casks made of American oak.
Still-maturing whisky from our standard ex-bourbon barrels is transferred to quarter casks and left to rest in our warehouse just a stone throw from the Atlantic shore.
This process represents Laphroaig breathing new life into a once-defunct tradition: the use of the smaller cask size, which ensures increased contact with the oak, creating a soft and velvety edge to complement Laphroaig distinctive peatiness.
On the nose the sensation is toffee and caramel, caused by the vanillas and tannins of the American oak, plus a dryness from the wood oil.
The finish is long and alternates between this sweetness and smoke.
Laphroaig Select (70cl, 40%)
This Laphroaig is created from carefully selected casks of each of our key styles. Mostly, these are historic styles, with one notable addition: the heart of the spirit is drawn from a final maturation in American oak casks rarely used for scotch whisky.
With spirit selected by our master distiller from Quarter Cask, our PX Cask and Triple Wood (Oloroso sherry) and a final addition of 10 Year Old, it represents a subtle blending of peat, oak and sweetness.
Bottled at natural colour, the result is an exquisite Laphroaig with our trademark peat reek matched by an additional layer of complexity and depth brought about by the fusion of the maturation styles and different oaks.
Laphroaig The 1815 No Box 70cl, 48%
Notice this bottle it is without original box.
A single malt created by distillery manager, John Campbell, to honour the master craftsmen who have shaped Laphroaig over the past two centuries. This single malt was first left to rest in first-fill, over-charred ex-bourbon barrels, before being transferred to large, new European oak hogsheads – which have never been used by Laphroaig until now.
The 1815 combines notes of peat smoke, toasted fruits and oiled wood.
Octomore 10 Year Old Oloroso Cask Finish Darkness (50cl, 47.8%)
A 10-year-old Octomore – the beloved peated single malt from Islay’s Bruichladdich distillery. This one finished its maturation with a stay in an oloroso sherry octave, custom-made for the folks at indie bottler Darkness. An intriguing combo of sweet baked goods, salted nuts and coastal smoke make this a superbly complex sipper.
Port Askaig 100° Proof (70cl, 57.1%)
Launched in 2015, the Port Askaig 100° Proof is a big, smoky single malt Scotch whisky from an undisclosed Islay distillery. This is bottled at 57.1% ABV – which is 100° Proof in a traditional system of alcohol content measurement (different from 100 proof, which you’re much more likely to see on American bottlings).
Port Askaig 28 Year Old 70cl, 45.8%
Port Askaig 28 Year Old was bottled by Elixir Distillers, from a small, specially selected batch of refill American oak hogsheads. Complex, coastal and peaty, this Islay single malt has herbal aromas of mint, smoked tea leaves and pine, alongside almonds, tropical fruits and vanilla. The palate offers notes of orange peel, custard and cinnamon, alongside salty, savoury notes.
