Laphroaig 16 Year Old (70cl, 48%)
Originally a limited edition to celebrate the distillery’s 200th anniversary, Laphroaig 16 is now a small-batch occasional release. It takes the distinctive medicinal, seaside character of Laphroaig’s spirit and gives it a few extra years to mellow out and calm down, creating a rich and smoky whisky with more complexity and an elegance that’s not often seen elsewhere in the Laphroaig range – spicy peat smoke with well-worn leather and soft, sweet vanilla.

Ardbeg Corryvreckan (70cl, 57.1%)
Powerfully peaty and immensely satisfying, Ardbeg’s Corryvreckan is what happens when the distillery of Islay’s Kildalton Coast aims to make a whisky with a particularly medicinal style than its usual expressions. Aptly named after a nearby whirlpool, Corryvreckan is an intense dram that we simply love.
Bunnahabhain 12 Year Old Cask Strength 2023 Edition (70cl, 60.1%)
A rich and fruity Islay single malt from Bunnahabhain, matured for 12 years in ex-sherry casks and bottled at cask strength. Aromas of dried fruit, sweet flowers, oak spice and rich smoke on the nose, followed by notes of roasted hazelnuts, caramel and dates that linger in the finish.
Laphroaig 10 Year Old Cask Strength Batch 015 Bot.2021 (70cl, 56.5%)
The only thing between you and the full, uncompromising expression of our most powerful cask strength whisky is the cork. Our Laphroaig 10 Cask Strength is the purest way to experience the taste created by the land, sea and air of Islay. Once removed from the barrel after a decade, the spirit is barrier-filtered to remove unwanted char particles. Then, this cask strength single malt goes straight to the bottle.
The result is a bracing, full-bodied 56.5% vol whisky delivering renowned smoke with a particular rugged character and depths of sweet and spicy flavour. A dram poured neat is lively on the nose with hints of vanilla, pipe tobacco and leather while overwhelming the palate with toffee, fudge and cinnamon. Splashing in a couple drops of water draws out additional peat smoke and notes of sea salt.
The latest batch (#15, no less) of Laphroaig 10 Year Old Cask Strength demonstrates that the Islay distillery is no danger of running out of peaty powerhouses for us to enjoy. This has all the smoky, medicinal, and sweet notes you’ve come to expect and at 56.5% ABV, those flavours don’t exactly hide.
Laphroaig 10 Year Old Cask Strength Batch 016 Bot.2022 (70cl, 58.5%)
Our Original Cask Strength is the purest way to experience the taste created by the land, sea and air of Islay. Aged 10 years, it’s barrier-filtered from the cask to remove unwanted char particles – and that’s all that comes between you and the real Laphroaig.
We don’t chill-filter our Original Cask Strength, and we don’t reduce its natural strength. So, what you pour is what we draw from the barrel — the heart of charred seasoned oak barrels, our blue peat smoke and nutty barley, in a truly natural experience.
Batch 16 is our most powerful expression within the Cask Strength family, characterised by a 58.5% proof point and notes of vanilla and sea salt intermingled with hints of freshly ground black pepper and pork crackling. A dram poured neat will fill the nose with aromas of sweet apples and caramelised pastry, underpinned with a tang of cereal and tanned leather notes. The finish, a mixture of gentle spice, charred oak and smoked mackerel with an oily mouthful.
Kilchoman Cognac Cask Matured 2023 Release 70cl, 50%
unusual release from Kilchoman, this isn’t a finish, instead it’s entirely matured in 300 litre Cognac casks which come from Tonellerie Bossuet. Kilchoman used a 50ppm heavily-peated new-make spirit, which then went into 32 300 litre French oak casks for a minimum of six years. The result was bottled at 50% ABV with no colour or chill-filtering.
Kilchoman Fino Sherry Cask Matured 70cl, 50%
Something you don’t see everyday, an Islay single malt entirely aged in fino sherry casks. Kilchoman founder Anthony sourced 20 fino sherry butts from Bodega Jose y Miguel Martin in Jerez to mature his whisky in. This release spent a minimum of five years ageing before bottling in 2023 at 50% ABV. Fino, the lightest and freshest style of sherry, imparts quite different flavours to the more commonly seen oloroso or PX. So there will be no dried fruit or big spices here, thank you very much. Instead think of fresh apples, almonds and a salty note that perfectly compliments the smoky Kilchoman character.
Laphroaig The 1815 No Box 70cl, 48%
Notice this bottle it is without original box.
A single malt created by distillery manager, John Campbell, to honour the master craftsmen who have shaped Laphroaig over the past two centuries. This single malt was first left to rest in first-fill, over-charred ex-bourbon barrels, before being transferred to large, new European oak hogsheads – which have never been used by Laphroaig until now.
The 1815 combines notes of peat smoke, toasted fruits and oiled wood.
Lagavulin 8 Year Old – 200th Anniversary Edition (70cl, 48%)
Notice the level is low, to the shoulder
Released to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the founding of Lagavulin distillery by John Johnston in 1816, this eight-year-old is big and smoky, with sweet spice that becomes apparent with a drop of water. Inspired by the visit of Alfred Barnard to the distillery in the 1880s when he tried an ‘exceptionally fine’ eight-year-old from the distillery, this is a fitting tribute for the milestone.

Seaweed & Aeons & Digging & Fire & Cask Strength 18 Year Old (70cl, 54.6%)
A senior member of the Seaweed & Aeons family, this is a cask-strength edition of its heavily peated 18-year-old Highland single malt. Bottled at a hearty 54.6%, it’s a big, bold sipper. With a good portion matured in sherry casks, it boasts softly sweet notes of stone fruits and toasted nuts among vibrant layers of herbaceous coastal peat smoke, and dense, meaty malt.
Whether you’re a fan of the younger age statements in this range and looking to explore older whiskies, or you’re interested in cask strengths, this is one for you! Also, a fab find if you’re looking for a gift for a member of some kind of ampersand appreciation society.
Lagavulin 16 Year Old 70cl, 43%
A much sought-after single malt with the massive peat-smoke that’s typical of southern Islay – but also offering richness and a dryness that turns it into a truly interesting tipple. The 16 year old has truly become a benchmark Islay dram from the Lagavulin distillery.
If you’re looking for a food pairing for this beauty, try intensely flavoured salty blue cheeses, which complement the intense, peat rich, sweet and salty character of this Lagavulin wonderfully.

Caol Ila 14 Year Old Oloroso Cask Finish Darkness (50cl, 55.5%)
This Caol Ila single malt has been given the sherry cask treatment, courtesy of the crew at Darkness! Matured for 14 years, the whisky was treated to a finish in an oloroso sherry octave resulting in heaps of citrus and spice to support the earthy, peaty salinity at its core.
Islay 13 Year Old Oloroso Cask Finish Darkness (50cl, 57.7%)
Hailing from an undisclosed Islay distillery, an intensely sherried single malt from Darkness! Matured for 13 years, there’s plenty of coastal peat smoke and classic bonfire character here, coupled with layers of fruity sweetness thanks to a finish in an oloroso sherry octave.
Kilchoman Casado 70cl, 46%
A limited-edition single malt from Kilchoman, Casado takes its name from the Portuguese word for marriage. Initially matured in 38 first-fill ex-bourbon barrels, it was then married in a pair of Portuguese red wine vats for two years before it was bottled. Aromas of intense campfire smoke, ripe plums, cherries, peaches, marzipan and sea spray fill the nose, complemented by notes of black pepper, salty peat smoke, apricot, lemon, stewed plums, apricot jam and rich smoke throughout the palate and lingering in the finish.
Caol Ila Moscatel Cask Finish Distillers Edition Release 2022 70cl, 43%

Caol Ila 2009 (bottled 2021) Moscatel Cask Finish Distillers Edition (70cl, 43%)
The 2021 Distillers Edition Caol Ila single malt was distilled in 2009 and double matured in ex-Moscatel wine casks, creating aromas of rich fruit, aromatic peat smoke and warm spice that fill the nose. The palate offers notes of ripe orchard fruit, tart plums, rich waves of peat smoke and smouldering bonfires that linger in the finish.
