Glenfiddich is a Speyside single malt Scotch whisky owned and produced by William Grant & Sons in Dufftown, Scotland. Glenfiddich means “valley of the deer” in Scottish Gaelic, which is why the Glenfiddich logo is a stag.
Glenfiddich is the world’s best-selling single-malt whisky and also the most awarded at the International Spirits Challenge.

Uniquely amongst Scotch whisky distillers, our Malt Master matures our Glenfiddich 15 Year Old in three types of oak cask, sherry, bourbon and new oak, to pervade it with rich fruit flavours and distinct spice and honey notes. He then marries it in our unique handcrafted Oregon pine Solera vat, which is always kept at least half full, to give it a beautiful balance and create a deliciously harmonious, consistent and complex whisky that gets increasingly complex over time.

In honour of 125 years of whisky production, Glenfiddich released this limited edition single malt Scotch whisky in 2012. For this expression, the chaps at Glenfiddich have used a combination of peated and unpeated whiskies aged in a large proportion of Spanish ex-Sherry butts, as well as American ex-bourbon casks. It was presented alongside a copper stopper, a leaflet giving some background on the release and a handsome presentation case. What better way to celebrate 125 years of Glenfiddich whisky than with more of it?
The whisky is beautifully presented, with a copper cork, metal box and information leaflet. As one of three in the limited Age of Discovery range, this 19 year old single malt whisky has been finished in oak casks which previously held South American red wines. The types of wine which the casks previously held are Malbec, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, all of which impart their own unique set of flavour into the whisky. Distilled by Glenfiddich, this release forms part of their Experimental Series. This expression is the fifth release in the range and is a collaboration with the Somerset Cider Brandy company. It been finished in Somerset Pomona spirit casks, which is a blend of cider brandy and apple juice, and bottled at a strength of 43% abv.
Orchard Experiment is the fifth release in Glenfiddich Distillery’s Experimental Series and is the world’s first single malt to be finished in Somerset Pomona casks. The palate is bright and fruity, with notes of crunchy apples, vanilla, oaky spice and caramel that linger in the finish.
A tremendous addition to the Experimental Series from Glenfiddich, combining the influences of Scotland and Somerset! This single malt has been finished in casks that previously held Somerset Pomona Spirit (a blend of apple cider brandy and apple juice) from the Somerset Cider Brandy Co.! This experiment came about after Glenfiddich’s Malt Master Brian Kinsman paid a visit to the Somerset Cider Brandy Co. to meet with its Master Distiller Matilda Temperley. After a stroll around the vintage orchards, the idea was born, the casks were sent from Somerset to Scotland and filled with a core of delicious malt, before being left to ripen. Top stuff for sipping on a warm evening, perhaps after a nice glass of cider.
