The Dalmore distillery is located in Alness, Scotland, which is 20 miles (32 km) north of Inverness. It sits on the banks of the Cromarty Firth overlooking the Black Isle, the “big meadowland”, from which it takes its name.
The Dalmore distillery is owned and operated by Whyte & Mackay, which is owned by Philippines based Emperador Inc.

A 2020 release from Dalmore that takes a maximalist approach to cask finishing.
Indeed, this dram is part of a mini series of three whiskies from the Highland distillery. Each expression in this series showcases Dalmore’s spirit in an increasing number of cask finishes, with the Trio being finished in three casks, the Quartet in four, and the Quintet in five.
Dalmore Quintet has been finished in rare muscatel casks, Malmsey Madeira barrels, 30 year old matusalem sherry casks, 10 year old port casks and Cabernet Sauvignon casks from Bordeaux.
The result is an exceedingly rich and complex whisky, which serves up notes of pineapple, mango, bananas, maple syrup, espresso, dark chocolate, rich dried fruits, plums, marmalade, white grapes, malt, vanilla custard, rancio, old oak and leather.
A whisky that illustrates sometimes, more is more!
The dram is bottled at the higher proof of 44.5% ABV for extra body and depth.

Definitive single malt whisky maker, The Dalmore, is releasing a refined new single malt, The Dalmore 45, to add to its exceptional collection.
The Dalmore 45 has been hand crafted by Master Distiller Richard Paterson who has used some of the distillery’s rarest aged liquids to create what Richard himself has described as ‘flawless perfection’.
Initially matured in American white oak ex-bourbon casks, the liquid has then been transferred into two different Vintage Graham’s Port Colheita pipes dating from 1961 and 1963 to create layers of flavour, which are indulgent, smooth and complex.
For its final flourish the whisky was then married together in first fill American white oak ex-bourbon casks providing The Dalmore 45 with a truly unrivalled finish. The Dalmore’s use of multiple casks is a fitting example of the distillery’s commitment to exquisite cask curation, which focuses on sourcing and utilising only the best casks from the world’s finest bodegas and wineries.
Purposefully retained at 40% ABV, The Dalmore 45 features exquisite flavours of red berries, soft liquorice, crushed hazelnuts, bitter chocolate and Manuka honey. This is followed by the sweet flavours of sticky toffee pudding, Bramley apples and juicy dates to finish.
Richard Paterson commented: “By personally selecting the very finest American white oak ex-bourbon casks and Port Colheita Pipes from 1961 and 1963, I have been able to create a truly unique expression which is indulgent and smooth with a vibrant and lively flavour profile. It takes time, dedication and passion to create an expression like The Dalmore 45 and age has gracefully matured this distinguished spirit to make it one of The Dalmore’s greatest aged spirits. Dalmore 40 Year Old 2017 Release (70cl, 40%)

The 2017 release of Dalmore 40 Year Old was aged in bourbon casks for around 30 years, then aged in oloroso-sherry butts for a further seven before being finished in first-fill bourbon barrels. The result is a whisky with notes of gingerbread, maple syrup, honey and brioche.
A 2017 bottling of Dalmore 40 Year Old, presented in a Baccarat decanter. This was initially aged in American oak bourbon barrels before being transferred over to Matusalem Oloroso Sherry butts for seven years, and then transferred into first-fill bourbon barrels. This release coincided with Master Distiller and all-around good egg Richard Paterson’s 50th year in the whisky industry.
Wow – this Highland malt is something else. 40 years young and aged in a combination of American white oak, Matusalem oloroso sherry and Amoroso sherry casks, it bears the hallmarks of master blender Richard Paterson, who put his Midas touch to the blend. Scents of sherry, smoke and marmalade: a masterpiece.

Drawn from Matusalem Oloroso and Amoroso Oloroso Sherry butts and hand-sourced from the famous Gonzalez Byass bodega, This Dalmore 30-year-old Whisky is an assemblage of the finest aged stocks. Bottled in 2015, this is a limited edition of just 888 bottles. It has aromas of black Morello cherries, sweet raisins and cider apples on the nose. A mixture of ripe mangoes, warm spices and Colombian coffee with subtle oak on the palate. This is one of its kind.
The 2015 release of Dalmore 30 Year Old is limited to 888 bottles. Aged in oloroso-sherry butts, this has notes of Christmas cake, coffee, honey and spice.
