Dalmore Trio 1L, 40%

An exceptional single malt matured in three equally exceptional casks. Using a three cask maturation, The Dalmore The Trio is a captivating marriage of rare and exceptional casks. The liquid is initially matured in American white oak ex-bourbon casks. This gives its first base of soft vanilla and honey notes. The whisky is apportioned between first fill ex-bourbon casks, 10 year old Tawny port pipes and 30 year old Matusalem sherry casks. The three parts are then brought back together to harmonise.”

Dalmore 12 Years Old Sherry Cask Select combines Dalmore’s house style with a delicious sherry influence. The single malt first aged for 10 years in American white oak ex-bourbon barrels. It was then finished in Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks from three historic cooperages in Jerez de la Frontera, creating a sweet and elegant character. The whisky has aromas of caramelised orange, ginger and sultanas, laced with honey. The palate brings dark chocolate and crushed almonds with a dusting of cinnamon. Flavours of sweet mangos, panna cotta and lemon sponge cake linger on the finish. This 2023 release has an updated purple design that catches the eye.

Single malt from the Dalmore distillery, initially aged in American white oak casks before enjoying a finishing period in Port pipes. These casks were sourced from well-known port producer W&J Graham’s. This isn’t the first time that Dalmore has shown an appreciation for Graham’s casks – a trio of releases from mid-2017 were all finished in Graham’s Port casks.

A brand new addition to the Highland malt maker’s award-winning Principal Collection, the Sherry Cask Select showcases the affinity between The Dalmore and sherry.

This expression begins its journey in American white oak ex-bourbon casks where it spends ten years maturing, laying down the foundations of the distillery’s house style: chocolate, orange and spice. The liquid is then finished in an assemblage of hand-curated sherry barrels from Andalusia in Spain, making this 12-year-old a delicious and decadent drinking experience, full of sweet fruits and autumnal spice.

Dalmore The Quintet (70cl, 44.5%)

  • ( 0 Customer Review )

A 2020 release from Dalmore that takes a maximalist approach to cask finishing.

Indeed, this dram is part of a mini series of three whiskies from the Highland distillery. Each expression in this series showcases Dalmore’s spirit in an increasing number of cask finishes, with the Trio being finished in three casks, the Quartet in four, and the Quintet in five.

Dalmore Quintet has been finished in rare muscatel casks, Malmsey Madeira barrels, 30 year old matusalem sherry casks, 10 year old port casks and Cabernet Sauvignon casks from Bordeaux.

The result is an exceedingly rich and complex whisky, which serves up notes of pineapple, mango, bananas, maple syrup, espresso, dark chocolate, rich dried fruits, plums, marmalade, white grapes, malt, vanilla custard, rancio, old oak and leather.

A whisky that illustrates sometimes, more is more!

The dram is bottled at the higher proof of 44.5% ABV for extra body and depth.

Dalmore Cigar Malt (70cl, 44%)

  • ( 0 Customer Review )

Dalmore Cigar Malt was discontinued in mid-2009, causing uproar among all right-thinking, cigar-smoking whisky fans. This dram used to sit above the 12, and below the 15 in terms of both the price-point, and the age-profiles of the whisky that went into the blend, but the new version is a little different.

The whiskies that make up the reworked cigar malt are slightly older, which has pushed up the price somewhat.

But it’s a great whisky, whether you drink with its intended purpose in mind or not. And if you do enjoy cigars, you’ll want to know that the stick that provided the flavour benchmark for pairing is the hefty Partagas Serie D No. 4.
