Initially matured in refill American oak barrels, this 17 year old from BenRiach spent a finishing period in Pedro Ximénez Sherry butts from Jerez de la Frontera.

Peated Cask Strength: Batch 2 , the latest release from the BenRiach, is a single-malt Scotch whisky that will test the intestinal fortitude of the heartiest hooch drinkers. Weighing in at a whopping 121.2 proof, this husky dram is struck through with heavy smoke and wood flavor and dense vegetal notes. Think of the biggest, brightest bonfire you’ve ever seen, and then try to imagine all that white-hot intensity being bottled for consumption. No doubt there are people out there who enjoy drinking whisky as powerful as this neat.

The first release from BenRiach’s Peated Cask Strength series (in the same vein as their unpeated Cask Strength releases) is made with whiskies drawn from Oloroso Sherry casks and bourbon barrels.

Celebrating the time of year when Benriach produces its peated spirit, Smoke Season is the distillery’s smokiest whisky to date! While smoky whiskies used to be much more of a thing in the Speyside region many moons ago, that’s not quite the case these days. However, Benriach has long produced peated spirit for a short while each year, and this expression shows off the fruits of that labour in its full splendour! Matured in a combination of bourbon barrels and virgin oak casks, this one packs a bold flavour profile for sure.
BenRiach 12 Year Old The Twelve (70cl, 46%)
A big Benriach, taking the distillery’s fruity spirit and adding layers of rich and dark flavour to it. Aged for 12 years in bourbon, sherry and port casks, it’s a spicy dram with loads of dried fruit and soft spice.
BenRiach 12 Year Old The Smoky Twelve (70cl, 46%)
Brilliantly peaty 12 year old whisky here from the Benriach Distillery, released as part of its new core range launched in 2020. To create this expression, Dr. Rachel Barrie used a combo of bourbon, sherry and Marsala wine casks, imparting sun-dried fruit and warming festive spice notes to the smoky single malt.
