BenRiach Peated Cask Strength Batch 1 (70cl, 56%)
The first release from BenRiach’s Peated Cask Strength series (in the same vein as their unpeated Cask Strength releases) is made with whiskies drawn from Oloroso Sherry casks and bourbon barrels.
BenRiach Peated Cask Strength Batch 2 (70cl, 60%)
Peated Cask Strength: Batch 2 , the latest release from the BenRiach, is a single-malt Scotch whisky that will test the intestinal fortitude of the heartiest hooch drinkers. Weighing in at a whopping 121.2 proof, this husky dram is struck through with heavy smoke and wood flavor and dense vegetal notes. Think of the biggest, brightest bonfire you’ve ever seen, and then try to imagine all that white-hot intensity being bottled for consumption. No doubt there are people out there who enjoy drinking whisky as powerful as this neat.
Benriach Quarter Cask (1L, 46%)
A litre bottle of Benriach Quarter Cask, which is first aged in bourbon barrels before a second maturation in bespoke quarter casks. The smaller casks allow for more interaction between the wood and whisky, amplifying those buttery, woody flavours we know and love.
Benriach Smoke Season 70cl, 52.8%
Celebrating the time of year when Benriach produces its peated spirit, Smoke Season is the distillery’s smokiest whisky to date! While smoky whiskies used to be much more of a thing in the Speyside region many moons ago, that’s not quite the case these days. However, Benriach has long produced peated spirit for a short while each year, and this expression shows off the fruits of that labour in its full splendour! Matured in a combination of bourbon barrels and virgin oak casks, this one packs a bold flavour profile for sure.
Benriach Smoky Quarter Cask 1L, 46%
Benriach’s Smoky Quarter Cask celebrates the distillery’s use of peat, which began in the 1970s, harking back to whisky production of old, while breaking the conventional style of whisky from the Speyside region. The use of wood-rich Highland peat results in a sweet, smoky profile, and this expression is crafted with a balance of Benriach’s peated and unpeated spirit. Initially matured in bourbon barrels, the whisky is then transferred to bespoke quarter casks. The smaller cask size ensures greater interaction between the whisky and the oak, resulting in rewardingly rich layers of fruit, vanilla, and mellow wood smoke. Oh, and this is a litre bottle originally released for travel retail, so, even more, to go round!
