Caroni 20 Year Old (That Boutique-y Rum Company) (50cl, 63%)
A Trinidadian treat from That Boutique-y Rum Company, it’s a cask-strength traditional column still rum from Caroni, which sadly closed its doors back in 2002. Stocks of Caroni’s heavy, aged rum are much sought after these days, and generally left untouched before bottling, however, something different lay in store for this one. Y’see, the folks over at That Boutique-y Whisky Company were putting together a World of Smoke series, which got the Boutique-y Rum gang thinking about how a big, bold 20-year-old rum like this might handle a short spell in a peaty Islay whisky cask! Very well indeed it turns out.

Casa Santana 6 Year Old That Boutique-y Rum Company (50cl, 57.7%)
That Boutique-y Rum Company returned to its favourite Columbian ageing house, Casa Santana for this batch of rum, which joins the indie bottler’s Cinema Series. The Casa Santana team follows the Cuban method to age and blend rums of different origins and profiles into flavour bases for its expressions, and bottled at a hearty 57.7% ABV, this full proof six-year-old certainly packs plenty of character.
Batch 5 is a release of 550 bottles.

Depth Charge Spiced Rum packs a big, powerful flavour profile, having been made with a fantastic base of Caribbean rum, a selection of tasty spices and generous helpings of lime and mandarin at its core. The name comes from an ancient seafaring tale, where there was once a formidable sailor who encountered a fierce mythological sea monster, which defeated it comprehensively. But then, something appeared to challenge the sea monster – it was Depth Charge! Or at least, some version of that story. You can see what they did there. Anyway, expect this expression to be great served simply over ice with a good wedge of lime, and it should pair brilliantly with all those classic rum mixers we know and love.

This rum was made solely in the Batch Kettle Still that was brought to Diplomatico’s La Miel distillery in 1959. This semi-continuous distillation system is originally from Canada, where it was employed for the production of whisky.

Made from molasses, it was in finding a use for the byproduct of sugarcane, in the Caribbean, that Rum came into being. Every island has its own distinct style, with each of the island’s distilleries producing a further variation . While white rums readily form the base for a number of varied cocktails, dark rums, aged in ex-bourbon and cognac barrels, can take on great depth of flavour. They typically exhibit exotic, tropical-fruit aromas and a warm spiciness that, like any great spirit, is worthy of appreciating on its own.
El Dorado Diamond Port Mourant 2010 Green 70cl 49.1%
El Dorado Diamond Port Mourant 2010 Green is a blended in the barrel from the famous Demerara distillery. This region of Guyana was once home to dozens of distilleries, each producing a different style of rum. These distilleries have all closed today, but some of their stills and recipes have been preserved.
The Diamond distillery has blended rums from Coffey columns and the legendary Port Mourant pot-still before ageing.
These rums were distilled in 2010, placed in old bourbon barrels, and bottled brut de fût in 2019.

El Dorado Port Mourant Uitvlugt 2010 Orange is a molasses rum from Guyana. It was distilled at Diamond, on the banks of the Demerara River, the only distillery still active in the country. This distillery has the particularity of having brought together all the stills of the old plantations of Guyana, which have now disappeared. Among these stills, the famous wooden pot-still from Port Mourant, and the 4 columns from Uitvlugt.
The assembly of these two “marks” (PM and ICBU) was carried out before ageing, hence the term “blended in the barrel”. Distillation took place in 2010, and the rum was bottled cask strength in 2019.
El Dorado Port Mourant Uitvlugt Diamond 2010 Violet 70cl 49,6%
El Dorado Port Mourant Uitvlugt Diamond 2010 Violet is a molasses rum from the mythical Demerara region of Guyana. After the ‘Rare Collection’ series, El Dorado returns with ‘blended in the barrel’. These are blends of different stills, made before ageing in old bourbon casks.
The Port Mourant double pot-still is featured, as well as the Uitvlugt and Diamond columns. The distillation took place in 2010, for a raw cask bottling in 2019.
El Dorado Uitvlugt Enmore 2008 Blue 70cl 47.4%
El Dorado Uitvlugt Enmore 2008 Blue is a molasses rum distilled at Diamond in Guyana. This distillery in the Demerara River region is home to some of the most legendary stills in the world. El Dorado has preserved the know-how and stills of the country’s old distilleries, and thus has an infinite number of different flavour profiles. The brand blends these “marks” into its regular range and also experiments, such as this “blended in the barrel” series.
Here are two marks of the Uitvlugt columns (ICBU and GS/20), assembled before aging with the fabulous EHP mark of the Enmore column.
The rum was distilled in 2008, then placed in ex-bourbon casks. It was bottled in 2019, without reduction, brut de fût.
Eminente Reserva 7 Year Old Rum (70cl, 41.3%)
Eminente Reserva 7 Year Old is a particularly snazzy Cuban rum, made with 100% Cuban sugar cane. Bright and clean, but with plenty of complex and depth as it develops on the palate, with rich coffee and tobacco notes sitting alongside fruity cherry and floral wafts. Should do very well simply sipped neat, but we reckon it’ll also make for a great Palmetto or Rum Old Fashioned…
Flor de Caña 12 Year Old Gift Pack (70cl, 40%)
A top quality 12 year old rum from the Nicaraguan producer, Flor de Caña. This is fine sipping rum, with flavours like toffee apple and buttery vanilla. We love it.
Flor de Cana 130th Anniversary Rum 20 years (70cl, 45%)
How to you celebrate your 130th anniversary if you’re a top rum producer? With a fabulous rum, of course! This expression from Nicaragua’s Flor De Caña was specially produced for the brand’s 130th anniversary, which we can all agree, is a very long time indeed. As such, you can expect a delicious expression, with oodles of dark fruit and waves of caramel.
Flor de Caña 18 Year Old (1L, 40%)
A luxurious golden rum from celebrated Nicaraguan distillers Flor de Cana, aged for 18 years in small white oak casks. Marvellously mellow stuff, with notes of nuts, caramel, vanilla and spice followed by a lingering finish.
Flor de Caña 19 Year Old Travelers Exclusive 45° (70cl, 45%)
This Flor de Cana 19-year-old rum is an exclusive normally offered to travelers. In other words, this edition is usually found in airports and other duty-free areas.
This is a rum distilled from 100% renewable energy and aged naturally. It is aged for over 19 years in small ex-bourbon American oak barrels in a unique environment. The family estate is located less than eight kilometers from the San Cristobal volcano, Nicaragua’s highest and most active volcano.
What’s more, the brand proudly displays its carbon neutrality and fair trade certification on the case.
Flor de Cana Volcanic Bourbon Cask (1L, 40%)
Flor de Caña Volcanic Bourbon Cask is a premium rum that is produced in a climate-neutral and fair-trade manner. It is matured in former bourbon barrels made from American white oak at the foot of the San Cristóbal volcano, which gives the rum its unique taste. Flor de Caña does not add any sweeteners at all in order to preserve the natural purity and quality of the rum.
Flor de Cana rums are distilled then aged at the foot of the San Cristóbal volcano.
From this geographical location was born the Flor de Cana Volcanic Bourbon Cask vintage. Aging took place entirely in ex-bourbon American oak barrels at the foot of the volcano which has been active since 1890.
Foursquare 12 Year Old 2010 Exceptional Cask Selection (70cl, 60%)
This exceptional Foursquare distillery in Barbados, this impressive expression combines a blend of 2010 pot and column-distilled rum, matured for 12 years in bourbon casks. Bottled up at a wholesome 60% ABV in July 2022, it now takes pride of place in the Exceptional Cask Selection.
Foursquare 12 Year Old That Boutique-y Rum Company Co Cinema Series (50cl, 50.7%)
This blend of pot and column distilled rum from the Foursquare distillery in Barbados joins That Boutique-y Rum Company’s Cinema Series. The rum began its maturation in Barbados, residing in a bourbon cask, before it arrived in the UK and was re-racked in a sauternes cask, bringing a softly sweet, fruity balance to the rich caramel and oak at its core.
Batch 7 is a release of 451 bottles.
Haiti 18 Year Old (That Boutique-y Rum Company) (50cl, 57.2%)
An impressive aged rum from Haiti, independently bottled by That Boutique-y Rum Company for its Cinema Series. This sugar cane juice-based rum was column distilled in 2004, spending its first six years maturing in Haiti, before being transferred to the UK to complete its 18-year maturation. With complex layers of tart fruit, creamy caramel, and earthy oak, it’s a fab find from those Boutique-y folks.

The result of a challenge posed to Havana Club by famed Cuban cocktail bar El Floridita, Professional Edition A is a white rum which delivers the rich, layered flavour profile of a long-aged rum alongside the clean-edged subtlety that makes white rum so perfect for mixing. The result is a full-bodied and nuanced spirit crafted to bring out the absolute best in rum cocktails such as the Daiquiri.
Havana Club Professional Edition B 70cl, 40%
The second of Havana Club’s Professional Editions, Edition B is a blend of three rums, one of which has been finished in peated Islay whisky casks. The resulting spirit is a dark rum full of classic, rich rum-sweetness and fruit notes tempered by a subtle, yet unmistakeable smoky twang. Cyprus was a leading sugar producer in the middle-ages, “sweet salt” as it was known at the time, with some of the sugar mills surviving to this day at Kolossi, Potamia, and Kouklia. Small sugarcane plantations exist on the island today, offering us the sugarcane juice we used for the production of our Kourouna Rum.

By Neptune’s beard – it’s Neptune Rum! This is a blend of eight, five and three year aged golden rum distilled from pure sugar cane molasses at Foursquare Distillery on the island of Barbados. That blend was matured in American bourbon oak barrels before it filtered using a specific cold filtration process and diluted with soft spring water to its bottling strength of 40% ABV.
Neptune Rum is perfect for enjoying over ice or with your favourite mixer. The name also also definitely a reference to the Roman god of freshwater and the sea, not the eighth planet in our solar system or 1990s/2000s hip-hop production duo.
Neptune Rum Caribbean Spiced (70cl, 37.5%)
By Neptune’s beard – it’s Neptune Rum Caribbean Spiced! Yes, we know we made that joke the last time, but we’re sticking with it. Anyway, this spiced variation of Neptune Rum has been infused with papaya, damiana, vanilla and cinnamon, bolstering the fruity, creamy, generally delicious notes of the Caribbean rums at its core. Excellently bright and juicy, we reckon this will be perfect for some summery cocktails.
Original Pitú do Brasil Cachaça (1L, 40%)
Cachaça is an incredibly popular spirit in Brazil and it is slowly starting to make an impression elsewhere. Pitú Cachaça comes from the State of Pernambuco in north-east Brazil. It is made with pressed sugarcane juice and is allowed to sit in wooden vats for several weeks before being bottled to unveil all the lovely flavours. Perfect for those Caipirinhas you’ve been thinking of making.
Pacto Navio Single Modernist Rum (70cl, 40%)
Pacto Navio is a Cuban rum finished in Sauternes casks. Named after the 1815 treaty which restored peace between France and Spain, this is a creamy rum with notes of citrus and cinnamon.
Parrot Bay Coconut (1L, 19%)
Polly want a coconut? This is a tropical spirit drink from the Parrot Bay range, made with a core of Caribbean rum and coconut flavours – a very yummy combination.
Pierre Ferrand Renegade Barrel No.2 Sample (2cl, 47.1%)
The second release from Pierre Ferrand’s Renegade Barrel. This time the spirit has been in initially aged in traditional oak barrels, before being moved over to barrels made from chestnut wood!
Pierre Ferrand Renegade Barrel is a rare example of double-matured spirit from the Cognac region. Because it is aged in a combination of classic oak casks and chestnut-wood barrels, rather than just oak, this rich and softly sweet eau-de-vie de vin can’t be called ‘Cognac’.
