Tasting Note

The nose opens with toasty yet rounded notes, like a handful of well-roasted, caramel-coated pecans. A little vegetal and resinous freshness seems to creep in between the cask staves, leaving the way clear for colourful exotic fruits.

With aeration, the smoke and the roast definitely intend to keep their place. They then relegate the fruit to the background, to offer us a character rather turned towards caramelisation.

The palate is marked by a familiar mineral, copper and devilishly fruity sensation. Only the Port Mourant still is capable of signing its rums like this. Here, it puts its assets to the fore, and basks in the atmosphere, surrounded by toasted and liquorice oak, then roasted nuts.

The finish is warm, with an overripe exotic fruit paste and endless molasses.
