For this expression the Macallan and Polly Logan sought out a specific chocolate note in The Macallan traditional sherry seasoned European oak casks and combined this with a vanilla note imparted by sherry seasoned American oak casks to sweeten the slightly bitter chocolate note I had found. This exquisite single malt offers a delightful whisky and chocolate pairing experience and the chance to elevate The Macallan experience to a new dimension.

Jordi Roca said: Our collaboration with The Macallan allows us to challenge our own creativity, and in this project, we have been allowed to play with cacao, which is one of my passions. Being able to inspire a whisky and to create a unique tasting experience has been wonderful.

The Macallan Inspired by Intense Arabica release is a celebration of the world of coffee and the incredible journey of the coffee bean. The Macallan, together with experts specializing in the coffee ecosystem have united to share knowledge, creativity, and passion to bring this exciting concept to life. In the quest to discover sustainable packaging, discarded coffee husks have been given a second lease of life to create this innovative presentation box which encases a unique whisky. Our whisky maker Steven Bremner has taken inspiration from the Arabica coffee and developed a whisky aged in both European and American oak casks which delivers notes reminiscent of a divinely sweet yet strong espresso.
This special single malt is inspired by the Ethiopian Arabica bean. Ethiopia is claimed to be the birthplace of coffee as the Arabica bean was the first species of coffee to be cultivated.
With a distinct coffee flavour, this whisky exudes notes of espresso, dark chocolate and sweet oak. The intensely flavoured single malt invites you to immerse yourself in a sensory journey through flavour and aroma.

The innovative and distinctive packaging has given new life to coffee bean husks, a by-product of coffee production that would otherwise be discarded. The husks were skillfully incorporated to create the presentation box and label, which is made from recycled and repurposed material.
Featuring a green pantone, to resemble the colour of the unroasted coffee bean, the Smooth Arabica packaging draws inspiration from its essential ingredient.
