Mortlach 10 Year Old That Boutique-y Whisky Company 70cl, 45.8%
Mortlach 10yo TBWC
With over 10 years experience in the independent bottling industry, That Boutique-y Whisky Company has built a loyal following of whisky lovers across the globe. It’s always easy to spot its bottles on a shelf, thanks to their colourful graphic novel style labels designed by Emily Chappell, and now those designs are celebrated in the limited edition Label Editions series. This single malt hails from Mortlach and spent 10 years maturing, starting off in a refill hogshead and finishing in a rum cask. The Speyside-based distillery uses a traditional worm tub condenser which contributes to the robust, muscular character of its whisky and in turn, the nickname ‘Beast of Dufftown’ which is rather terrifyingly depicted on the label for this limited edition 700ml bottle.
A release of 445 bottles.
That Boutique-y Whisky Company bottles limited edition whiskies from a variety of renowned distilleries as well as producing award-winning blends, all adorned with cultish graphic novel-style labels. The brand won Spirits Bottler of the Year at the 2023 Spirits Business Awards, and Blender of the Year went to Sam Simmons, captain of the Boutique-y clan who oversees every one of these releases.
Millstone 4 Year Old – Batch 8 That Boutique-y Whisky Company (50cl, 54.1%)
Dutch single malt from Millstone, peated to 55pm! This single malt was treated to a four-year stay in a Pedro Ximénez sherry hogshead, which was cracked open by That Boutique-y Whisky Company for its World of Smoke collection. Batch 3 is a release of 153 bottles.
Mackmyra 9 Year Old That Boutique-y Whisky Company (50cl, 46.8%)
This single malt from Sweden’s Mackmyra distillery was treated to a rather intriguing cask finish, ending its nine-year maturation in a cask seasoned with Hojicha Green Tea! Unlike traditional Japanese green teas, Hojicha is roasted after the leaves are steamed. Along with removing all bitterness, the roasting process gives Hojicha its signature earthy aroma, its reddish-brown color, and its unique smoky taste. Subtle notes of earthen spice compliment fresh, tropical layers of fruit and vanilla here, and it makes a splendid addition to the Cinema Series from That Boutique-y Whisky Company.

The Glen Garioch distillery may well be Scotland’s first licensed distillery. Varying dates are given as to the founding of the distillery, but all are predated by an article in the Aberdeen Journal on the 1st December 1785, which announced the first distillation of spirit at the site. This is OLD SCHOOL Glen Garioch, distilled in 1988, from when the distillery was floor malting their own malt, and using Highland peat. Bottled by That Boutique-y Whisky Company for its Cinema Series.

That Boutique-y Whisky Company has bottled up another brilliant batch of whiskey from its pals at Illinois-based FEW distillery, and this one joins the indie bottler’s Cinema Series. Emperor’s Way 4 Year Old That Boutique-y Whisky Company (50cl, 54.4%)
This single malt hails from the Hammerschmiede distillery in Germany. Boutique-y Whisky regulars will be familiar with the distillery’s Elsburn single malt, but here we have something different – Emperor’s Way is the name given to its peated, smoky expressions! Rather unusually, local German peat was used during malting, and the whisky was matured in an extremely rare first-fill Japanese mizunara oak cask. A cracking find from That Boutique-y Whisky Company, and just the thing to join its World of Smoke collection.
Batch 1 is a release of 477 bottles.
