Highland Park 17 Year Old The Dark & The Light (70cl, 52.9%)
Together with THE DARK, THE LIGHT shares the story of the noble Viking warriors who are our ancestors, of our contrasting island seasons and of the intense balance of our whisky.
Light and dark are concepts that exist in opposition, yet together create a perfect balance. One cannot exist without the other; as one appears, the other disappears; together they create something greater than themselves – in nature, a perfect, continuous cycle.
In THE DARK – a special release of only 28,000 bottles – we celebrate autumn and winter on Orkney; a time to escape from the wild weather outside and gather together with friends and family, sharing long nights of conversation and laughter around the table, around the fire.
Presented in a beautifully embossed black glass bottle, the serpent dragon design takes its inspiration from the great Norse sagas and embraces both the high sun of summer solstice and the low sun of winter solstice – the polar opposites of our island seasons – while the runic writing reflects the ancient carvings of our Viking ancestors, here on Orkney.
Names then gave they to noon and twilight, morning they named, and the waning moon, night and evening, the years to number.
In THE LIGHT– a special release of only 28,000 bottles – we celebrate spring and summer in Orkney; a time to emerge from our winter’s hibernation, renewed and refreshed with a spring in our step, ready to embrace the warm bright days of summer. Presented in a beautifully embossed green glass bottle, the serpent dragon design takes its inspiration from the great Norse sagas and embraces both the high sun of the summer solstice and the low sun of the winter solstice – the polar opposites of our island seasons – while the runic writing reflects the ancient carvings of our Viking ancestors which can still be seen today, here in Orkney.
Names then gave they to noon and twilight, morning they named, and the waning moon, night and evening, the years to number.
Glenfiddich 21 Year Old Experimental Series Winter Storm (70cl, 43%)
For our third experiment, Malt Master Brian Kinsman travelled to Canada to meet a renowned winemaker in Niagara. There he learned how the grapes had to be picked by moonlight at -10˚C to produce the intensely sweet Icewine. Upon his return to the Glenfiddich Distillery Brian started experimenting with several French oak Icewine casks from the Canadian winery, filling them with different Glenfiddich aged malts for up to six months. Only the rarer whiskies, those aged for 21 years, could cope with the extra Icewine intensity. The taste is a perfect combination of both pioneering liquids, the heightened candied sweets and oakiness of Glenfiddich are complemented by mouth-watering tropical fruit notes and a luscious sweetness from the unique Icewine cask finish. First released in October 2017, the long-awaited second batch is now available.
The third release in their experimental series utilises French Oak “Ice Wine” casks from the freezing vineyards of the renowned Peller Estates winery near Niagara, Canada.

Macallan Concept No.2 2019 Music (70cl, 40%)
Macallan Concept No. 2 is a no-age-statement single malt from the Speyside distillery matured in Sherry-seasoned American oak casks.
Whisky maker Steven Bremner used his passions for blending malts and mixing house music as his inspiration for the release.
He said: ‘Music has inspired many aspects of my life, both creatively and practically, as has whisky, so the creation of Concept Number 2 allowed me to look at my two passions through a different lens.
‘Creating a track and crafting a single malt can take a similar path. Beginning with the layering of sounds just like the layering of different flavours from specific cask types.
‘Each different cask brings its own influence to the character of the liquid, like each instrument, or sound, adds depth to a track. In both cases, we can alter each different element to play up or down particular sounds or flavours.’

A superb 18 year old from the Highland Park distillery and a winner of a Gold Medal at the 2005 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
Glenmorangie Nectar D’Or (70cl, 46%)
Glenmorangie Nectar d’Or is a rich and spicy whiskey with a unique finish in Sauternes casks. Bill Lumsden was one of the pioneers in the use of barrels of wine in the maturation of his whiskeys, especially with this edition that brilliantly bears his name.
This legendary edition of the Glenmorangie range renews its packaging in 2019 to highlight the special know-how of the
Macallan Classic Cut 2017 US Release (75cl, 58.4%)
Macallan Estate (70cl, 43%)
Released in 2019, The Macallan Estate is an intriguing expression that contains spirit distilled from barley grown on Macallan’s very own Easter Elchies estate. Hence the name. Growing on the banks of the River Spey, this barley is only distilled over the course of one week each year. It’s a pleasingly well-sherried dram, and comes handsomely presented in box which has an inlay of slate, representing the Scottish landscape that the distillery calls home.
GlenDronach 1993 25 Year Old Master Vintage (70cl, 48.2%)
A rather stunning well-sherried single malt from GlenDronach. Distilled in 1993, the whisky was laid to rest in Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry casks. Twenty-five glorious GlenDronach years passed, then master blender Dr. Rachel Barrie selected the casks to create this expression, which has been bottled at 48.2% ABV. The Spanish oak in which it rested has imparted a rich golden hue to the liquid – and, of course, an exceptional flavour profile.
Highland Park Earl Haakon 18 Year Old 1993 Edition 3 (70cl, 54.9%)
The final release in the cult-favourite, uber-collectable collection from Highland Park: “the Magnus series”. Earl Haakon was a character in the Orkney Inga Saga, who murdered his cousin, Magnus (the inspiration for the previous two bottlings in the range). This is aged for 18 years, and it’s absolutely stunning.
Highland Park Saint Magnus 12 Year Old Edition 2 (70cl, 55%)
The second release in the Magnus series from Highland Park, this will sell out before we even finish writing this sentence. It was created to celebrate Saint Magnus, who was described in the Orkenyinga Saga (no idea either) as “a man of extraordinary distinction, tall, with a fine, intelligent look about him.” It goes on this way, with numerous further compliments. We reckon he was writing about himself. Sadly, Saint Magnus was murdered by his treacherous cousin, Haakon.

Bruichladdich Octomore 07.1 5 Year Old (70cl, 59.5%)
Peat fans, hold on to your hats, as here comes another Octomore from the Bruichladdich distillery on Islay! The Octomore 07.1 is a 5 year old single malt Scotch whisky, which has been peated to 208 PPM and bottled at 59.5% ABV. The Octomore expressions are always a treat and this one is as complex and intense as ever, while still maintaining a sense of poise and elegance. Oh, and peat. Plenty of yummy, smoky peat.
This limited edition release of the world’s most heavily peated whisky uses barley malted to a whopping 208ppm. Octomore 7.1 was released in 2015 and was the final expression turned out during Jim McEwen’s tenure at the distillery.
Glenfiddich Malt Whisky Liqueur (50cl, 40%)
Well-balanced liqueur from the world’s No.1 malt whisky. Blended with honey and spices for a soft, alluring liqueur best enjoyed on the rocks. Sadly now discontinued.
This malt whisky liqueur has been highly sought after since it was discontinued in 2011
Macallan 1876 Replica (70cl, 40.6%)
A smart-looking replica Macallan modelled on a bottle from the Victorian era. Rich in summer fruits, both fresh/citric and dried, with traces of spice. Light vanilla fudge, sweet oak and wood spice.
Two casks of pre 20th century Macallan were found. The master blender set about recreating them, this is the recreation of the 1876.
