This limited release is a celebration of one of the world’s most elusive and enchanting flavor profiles – umami. It’s a harmonious collaboration between two masters of their respective crafts: the artistry of whisky blending, led by Master Blender Emma Walker, and the world of creative gastronomy, embodied by chef Kei Kobayashi whose Paris restaurant won three Michelin stars in 2020.

To enjoy this whisky to the full, Johnnie Walker recommend the following: “Enjoy a spoon of Oscietra Caviar, ensuring the caviar coats the palate. Once swallowed, take a small sip of the whisky, let that intermingle with the flavors of the caviar, take 10-15 seconds to reflect on the waves of flavor on the palate and savor slowly.

Elusive Umami is a limited-edition Johnnie Walker Blue Label, crafted from a collaboration between master blender Emma Walker and renowned Japanese chef Kei Kobayashi. Umami is a Japanese word used to identify the ‘fifth taste’, known as a somewhat mysterious, savoury flavour. Only one in 25,000 casks make the cut to become Elusive Umami, chosen to create a harmony of sweet and savoury flavours. Pair this with caviar and you’re winning!
