The 2012 entry in Glenmorangie’s Private Edition range, named Artein, meaning ‘Stone’. This matches up with the meaning of Sassicaia (from ‘Sasso’, also stone), the ‘Super Tuscan’ wine previously held in the barrels used to finish this whisky. It’s got 15 years old on the label, but it’s actually made up of 2 parts 15 year old to 1 part 21 year old whisky for a solid mix of well matured Glenmorangie.

Description
Tasting Note
Nose Warming slate, Parkin cake and dark chocolate. Masses of red berry compote followed by peach and ripe apricots.
Palate Cherries, espresso coffee, Harrogate toffee and parika. Fruits come through, apricots and peaches.
Finish The wood starts to grip with clove and a little menthol. Again the coffee note.
Comments Has raised the benchmark in how to finish a whisky in wine casks.
