Description
Glengoyne 12 Year Old 70cl, 43% is an elegant Highland single malt that combines the distillery’s naturally fruity spirit with a balanced selection of sherry, bourbon and refill oak casks.
Glengoyne uses malted barley dried with warm air rather than peat smoke. This completely unpeated production style allows clean malt, fresh orchard fruit, citrus and gentle oak to remain at the centre of the whisky. The distillery’s slow distillation further supports its smooth, delicate and fruit-forward character.
This bottling generation is documented with a cask composition of 20% first-fill European oak sherry casks, 20% first-fill bourbon barrels and 60% refill casks. The sherry wood contributes dried fruit and spice, bourbon barrels introduce vanilla and coconut, while refill casks preserve Glengoyne’s fresh spirit and malt character.
The result is a balanced whisky offering coconut oil, honey, lemon zest and dried oak on the nose. Toffee apples, orange, ginger, cinnamon and buttery shortbread develop across the palate before a gently drying finish of soft oak and light sherry sweetness.
Why Choose Glengoyne 12 Year Old 70cl, 43%
Glengoyne 12 Year Old stands out because it offers more maturity and cask depth than an introductory single malt while remaining smooth, fresh and approachable.
Its combination of three cask styles creates excellent balance. First-fill bourbon barrels contribute vanilla, coconut and lively fruit, European oak sherry casks provide spice and richness, and refill barrels allow lemon, apple, malt and honey to remain expressive.
At 43%, it carries greater texture and flavour concentration than many standard 40% bottlings without becoming excessively powerful. The absence of peat smoke also makes it an attractive choice for drinkers who prefer fruit, malt, toffee and gentle spice.
The red presentation box shown with the supplied bottle completes the package, making it suitable for gifting as well as everyday enjoyment.

Collector’s Note
Glengoyne 12 Year Old is primarily a core-range drinking whisky rather than an individually numbered limited release. Its collector interest comes from its age statement, established place within the Glengoyne portfolio and the different packaging designs used throughout its history.
The supplied example is presented with the distinctive red box and matching bottle design. This makes it useful for collectors comparing Glengoyne packaging generations, especially alongside earlier cylindrical-tube presentations and later redesigned editions.
No confirmed limited outturn or individual bottle numbering applies. Collector appeal therefore depends mainly on the condition of the bottle, label, closure, fill level and original presentation box rather than production rarity.
