Description
Ardbeg An Oa 70cl 46.6% is a distinctive Islay single malt Scotch whisky produced at the famous Ardbeg Distillery. Named after the Mull of Oa, a dramatic peninsula on the island of Islay, this expression reflects the rugged landscape and maritime influence that define the Ardbeg style.
Unlike some of Ardbeg’s more intensely smoky whiskies, An Oa is known for its smoother and more rounded character. The whisky is matured in a combination of cask types, including ex-bourbon barrels, Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, and virgin oak casks. These different whiskies are then married together in the Ardbeg Gathering Vat, a special marrying vessel designed to harmonise the flavours.
This unique maturation process creates a whisky that balances Ardbeg’s signature peat smoke with sweeter notes of chocolate, caramel, and warming spice. The result is a rich and approachable Islay single malt that still carries the unmistakable smoky character of the distillery.
Bottled at 46.6% ABV and non-chill filtered, Ardbeg An Oa retains its natural oils and full flavour, delivering a smooth yet complex whisky experience.
