Glenmorangie Grand Vintage 1998 Bond House No.1 Collection bottled 2022 70cl, 43%
Back in 1998, we started seeing some of Dr. Bill Lumsden’s first experiments as that was the year he was appointed director of whisky creation. For this Grand Vintage Malt, the whisky was matured in a variety of casks, including bourbon, sherry, and virgin new charred oak, the latter being one of the first times Glenmorangie used this wood profile. This is special stuff, and something of a time capsule to the early days of Dr. Bill.

Dating back as far as 1968, they have a rich selection of barrels, hogsheads, puncheons and butts to choose from. Only the most exceptional are personally selected by the Master Blender Dr. Rachel Barrie each year, to celebrate and share the very best of the distillery’s character. Whether they have previously housed sweet and rich Pedro Ximénez, dry and nutty Oloroso, or fruit-laden Port from the Douro Valley; each cask presents uniquely remarkable characteristics whilst remaining distinctively of The GlenDronach.

Royal Lochnagar distillery is based on the Abergeldie Estate in Royal Deeside, Scotland, close to the mountain Lochnagar.
The first Lochnagar distillery was burnt down in suspicious circumstances in 1824 and a replacement again burnt down in 1841. In 1845 John Begg built the “new” Lochnagar. The distillery was awarded its Royal Warrant in 1848 when John Begg invited Prince Albert to visit the distillery from the nearby Balmoral Castle, the Queen’s residence in the Highlands. The next day the distillery was visited by Queen Victoria, Prince Albert and their children.
Today Royal Lochnagar is owned by Diageo, and the distillery produces a relatively small amount of whisky, most of which is used in Johnnie Walker black and blue label.

Dalmore 18 Year Old Vintage 2003 bottled 2022 (70cl, 46.9%)
A 2003 single malt from the second release in the annual Dalmore Vintages series, combining the very finest casks from 2003 to create a rich, sweet limited-edition whisky. Beginning its journey in American white oak ex-bourbon barrels, it was then transferred into a combination of Rivesaltes sweet wine casks, Matusalem and Amoroso sherry casks, and bourbon barrels, before being married together and bottled in 2022. Aromas of Manuka honey and vanilla pods mingle with sticky toffee on the nose, complemented by notes of maple syrup, baking spices, plums, blackberries, English marmalade and honey throughout the palate and lingering in the finish.
GlenDronach 1993 25 Year Old Master Vintage (70cl, 48.2%)
A rather stunning well-sherried single malt from GlenDronach. Distilled in 1993, the whisky was laid to rest in Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry casks. Twenty-five glorious GlenDronach years passed, then master blender Dr. Rachel Barrie selected the casks to create this expression, which has been bottled at 48.2% ABV. The Spanish oak in which it rested has imparted a rich golden hue to the liquid – and, of course, an exceptional flavour profile.

GlenDronach 21 Year Old Parliament 2013 Release 70cl, 48%
A 21 year old Glendronach released in 2011, and aged in a mix of sherry casks (Oloroso and sweet Pedro Ximenez dessert sherry). The result is really very good indeed. Interestingly enough, this whisky has no political associations. It is, in fact, named “Parliament” after the collective term for a group of rooks – and there is a Parliament of Rooks living in the trees near GlenDronach…

An exceptionally rich, fruity expression of the Edradour distillery character – this long-aged Highlander was initially matured in ex-Bourbon hogsheads then racked into Bordeaux wine casks for a further eight years.
