Glencairn Whisky Trail
The Glencairn Whisky Glass is a revolutionary whisky glass that really lets one savor the taste and complexity of fine whisky. These are great to use for any of your Single Malt Whisky’s, Irish Whiskey’s, and also your single barrel bourbons. With the tapered mouth, you are able to really smell all of the nuances the whisky has to offer. Any malt advocate will love this glass!
History Of The Glass:
Champagne, Brandy, Wine… each has its own glass. Yet whisky, the worlds most complex spirit can be found served in anything from hiball tumblers to Paris goblets.
In 2001 Glencairn Crystal solved the problem of identifying the ideal glass for whisky. Designed by Raymond Davidson nearly 25 years earlier, its development involved pulling together the master blenders from the five largest whisky companies and asking them to perfect his initial design.
Today the Glencairn Glass can be found at every distillery in Scotland, Ireland, Wales as well as most in the USA.
Auchroisk 10 Year Old Flora and Fauna 70cl, 43%
This single malt lies at the heart of the Auchroisk range, it being the only official bottling. Released in the Flora and Fauna series in 2001, having previously been marketed as The Singleton of Auchroisk.
Islay Mist 17 Year old 70cl, 40%
In taking a predominantly Laphroaig-based mix of Islay whiskies for this edition of Islay Mist, you would expect the medicinal smoke to be equally as strong. However the 17 years ageing and the combination with mainland whisky mellows the smoke right down into the background, to present something more akin to a mature highland whisky with heather honey, dried fruits and just a whisp of smoke that combines with the oak flavours to give a cedar cigar box quality.
Glenturret 10 Year Old (70cl, 40%)
A tasty 10 year old single malt from the Glenturret Distillery in the Highlands. Fun fact: Glenturret was founded all the way back in 1775, though back then is was named the Hosh Distillery. After all these years, they’ve certainly got this whisky-making stuff down to a tee, don’t they?
Bunnahabhain 30 Year Old 1989 The Octave (Duncan Taylor) Bottle No.29 70cl, 50.8%
This exciting 30-year-old Bunnahabhain from 1989 comes from the new premium Octave series from independent bottler Duncan Taylor, which features a lavish selection of exclusive whiskies.
With a capacity of approximately 50 liters, Octaves are the smallest casks used in whisky production. Their smaller size allows the whisky to have greater contact with the wood, allowing for faster and more intensive maturation. Sometimes just a few months in an Octave cask are enough to impart intense aromas from the cask walls to the malt.

Glentauchers 25 Year Old 1996 The Octave (Duncan Taylor) Bottle No.6 70cl, 50.3%
This Glentauchers was distilled in 1996 and matured for 25 years in oak casks before being bottled by Duncan Taylor as part of the Octave series.
Glentauchers is an important single malt for blended Scotch, most recently a named component of Ballantine’s. As such, it is rarely seen in single malt form. Over the years, some bottlings were officially licensed to Gordon & MacPhail, and 2017 saw a distillery bottling launched under the Ballantine’s banner along with a Glenburgie and Miltonduff. Prior to that, enthusiasts were limited to seeking out independent bottlings like this one.

Springbank 25 Year Old 1998 The Octave (Duncan Taylor) Bottle No.9 70cl, 45.8%
Springbank 1998 Duncan Taylor 25 Year Old The Octave
Springbank distillery has been owned and operated by the Mitchell family in Campbeltown since 1837, and it one of Scotland’s most revered distilleries. Following a brief mothballing between 1979 and 1987, upon the reopening the decision was taken to cease all sales to the blending industry and focus on its single malt sales. Today it is one of the only distilleries to malt, distil, bottle and mature whisky on the same site, and produces three distinct and highly prized single malts.
This Springbank was distilled in 1998 and matured for 25 years, including a finishing period in single sherry octave #63109. It was bottled by Duncan Taylor in 2023, under their aptly-named The Octave label.
Duncan Taylor was founded in Glasgow in 1938 as a cask broker and trading company. Its modern history began in 2001 when a former Glendronach employee, Euan Shand, purchased the firm and moved it to Huntly in Aberdeenshire, using the impressive cask portfolio it has amassed over the 20th century to become one of the premier independent bottlers in Scotland.

Littlemill 29 Year Old Private Cellar Edition 2019 No.258 70cl, 47.3%
The first two pictures are from the actual bottle, if you’d like more detailed photos just get in touch!
A rare chance to try whisky from the sadly closed Littlemill Distillery! This is the 2019 edition of the Private Cellar release, and the whisky itself was aged for 29 years before being bottled up at 47.3% ABV. This set comes with a handsome presentation case, a 5cl bottle of the whisky (so you can taste it without having to open the full bottle), and even a piece of stave from a Littlemill cask! A release of 600 bottles.
Littlemill 29-year-old, the latest expression from Littlemill’s Private Cellar collection, will be released this September, using liquid carefully selected from some of the last remaining casks to be laid down at the Littlemill Distillery.
Now recognised to have been the oldest licensed distillery in Scotland, the distillery fell silent in 1994 and was destroyed by fire in 2004, making this liquid exceptionally rare and covetable.
Littlemill 29-year-old is the third release from the Private Cellar Collection, each crafted by Master Blender Michael Henry in Littlemill’s traditional Lowland ‘floral’ style. This latest release places emphasis on developing the wood character and only 600 bottles will be released across the world.
The liquid is contained within a bespoke Glencairn crystal decanter etched with an illustration of the River Clyde and a silver star signifying the Littlemill distillery’s location. Situated in Bowling on the banks for the River Clyde, it would prove to be a defining factor in the distillery’s success, opening important trade routes to key cities including Glasgow and Edinburgh when the Forth and Clyde Canal was completed in the 1790s.
The beautifully crafted presentation box also includes a 5cl miniature of the liquid, a piece of an original Littlemill cask, and a booklet sharing the fascinating history of the Littlemill distillery with tasting notes from Master Blender Michael Henry.
Whisky production at Littlemill, situated in Bowling on the banks of the River Clyde near Glasgow, continued until the distillery fell silent in 1994 and was subsequently destroyed by fire in 2004, never to produce a drop again.

St Magdalene 40 Year Old 1982 Private Collection Gordon & MacPhail 70cl, 54.8%
Gordon & MacPhail’s Private collection range contains exceptionally mature whiskies from silent distilleries and this St Magdalene is no exception. Spending 40 years in a refill American hogshead has left this whisky with aromas of pomander, orchard fruit and cocoa powder on the nose, leading to poached pear, walnut and marzipan on the palate.
St Magdalene A legendary lost distillery, also known as Linlithgow, closed in 1983.
Also known as Linlithgow, this lost Lowlands distillery was built in the mid-18th century by Sebastian Henderson and operated for well over 200 years before being closed in the great cull of 1983.
It had passed to A & J Dawson in 1798 before being acquired by DCL in 1912. The distillerywas re-equipped in 1927 andhad its own floor maltings until 1968, after which it bought in malt from Glenesk.
Despite a capacity of around 200,000 gallons a year of production, there were no official bottlings during its lifetime, and most malt fans had barely heard of it until a series of stunning Rare Malt bottlings (as St. Magdalene) in the mid-to-late 1990s. It is now one of the most lamented lost distilleries (the buildings have been converted to private housing), and Rare Malt bottlings are hungrily seized upon by aficionados and collectors alike.

Ardbeg Traigh Bhan 19 Year Old Batch 6 (70cl, 46.2%)
This is the 6th batch of Ardbeg’s popular Traigh Bhan (pronounced tri-van) whisky. It was aged for 19 years in a combo of bourbon and oloroso sherry casks and bottled at 46.2% ABV. Traigh Bhan is a beach on Islay known locally as the Singing Sands and Ardbeg says it takes inspiration from the white soft sands juxtaposed against the jagged, volcanic rocks which pierce the sand along the shore.

Highland Park Dark Origins (70cl, 46.8%)
Highland Park Dark Origins is a new core bottling that celebrates the early days of Magnus Eunson’s illicit distilling on Orkney, back before the distillery was even founded in 1798. Magnus worked as a butcher and church official by day, but by night he was a legendary whisky smuggler and distiller outwitting the exciseman.
To honour their hero (the Batman of the Orkney Islands, if you will), Highland Park have created a whisky with a suitably ‘dark’ character. Using 80% first-fill Sherry casks (20% refill) – 60% are first-fill European oak, with 20% being first-fill American oak – an exciting, spicy, chocolatey whisky has been produced.
Kilchoman Sauternes Cask Matured 2024 Release 70cl, 50%
Limited edition fruity single malt from Kilchoman, matured for a minimum of five years in first-fill and refill Sauternes casks. An old favourite of Kilchoman fans, this dram displays mouthwatering notes of butterscotch, candied apricots, salty peat smoke and a long, lingering finish.
A limited edition release from Islay’s Kilchoman distillery, this is the 2024 edition of its Sauternes Cask Matured single malt. This expression spent its full maturation (a minimum of five years) in a host of fresh and refill sauternes sweet wine casks selected by Kilchoman founder Anthony Wills to achieve a perfect balance of buttery sweetness, grilled fruit, sweet spice, and floral peat.
