Ailsa Bay Sweet Smoke Single Malt Whisky Gift Pack 1 Glass 70cl, 48.9%
A lovely gift set that includes a bottle of Ailsa Bay Sweet Smoke and s stylish tumbler. Ailsa Bay Sweet Smoke is both peatier and sweeter than its predecessor. It has, however, gone through the same micro-maturation process as the first edition – one that sees the spirit first filled into smaller-than-average bourbon casks for six to nine months, a process which accelerates maturation before it is then transferred into more traditional casks for several years.
On the nose expect delicate aromas of apricot and a gently crackling open fire. On the palate peat is evident along with some earthy spice, continued apricot and soft vanilla mouthfeel. The finish is earthy with hints of pepper.
Littlemill 29 Year Old Private Cellar Edition 2019 No.258 70cl, 47.3%
The first two pictures are from the actual bottle, if you’d like more detailed photos just get in touch!
A rare chance to try whisky from the sadly closed Littlemill Distillery! This is the 2019 edition of the Private Cellar release, and the whisky itself was aged for 29 years before being bottled up at 47.3% ABV. This set comes with a handsome presentation case, a 5cl bottle of the whisky (so you can taste it without having to open the full bottle), and even a piece of stave from a Littlemill cask! A release of 600 bottles.
Littlemill 29-year-old, the latest expression from Littlemill’s Private Cellar collection, will be released this September, using liquid carefully selected from some of the last remaining casks to be laid down at the Littlemill Distillery.
Now recognised to have been the oldest licensed distillery in Scotland, the distillery fell silent in 1994 and was destroyed by fire in 2004, making this liquid exceptionally rare and covetable.
Littlemill 29-year-old is the third release from the Private Cellar Collection, each crafted by Master Blender Michael Henry in Littlemill’s traditional Lowland ‘floral’ style. This latest release places emphasis on developing the wood character and only 600 bottles will be released across the world.
The liquid is contained within a bespoke Glencairn crystal decanter etched with an illustration of the River Clyde and a silver star signifying the Littlemill distillery’s location. Situated in Bowling on the banks for the River Clyde, it would prove to be a defining factor in the distillery’s success, opening important trade routes to key cities including Glasgow and Edinburgh when the Forth and Clyde Canal was completed in the 1790s.
The beautifully crafted presentation box also includes a 5cl miniature of the liquid, a piece of an original Littlemill cask, and a booklet sharing the fascinating history of the Littlemill distillery with tasting notes from Master Blender Michael Henry.
Whisky production at Littlemill, situated in Bowling on the banks of the River Clyde near Glasgow, continued until the distillery fell silent in 1994 and was subsequently destroyed by fire in 2004, never to produce a drop again.

St Magdalene 40 Year Old 1982 Private Collection Gordon & MacPhail 70cl, 54.8%
Gordon & MacPhail’s Private collection range contains exceptionally mature whiskies from silent distilleries and this St Magdalene is no exception. Spending 40 years in a refill American hogshead has left this whisky with aromas of pomander, orchard fruit and cocoa powder on the nose, leading to poached pear, walnut and marzipan on the palate.
St Magdalene A legendary lost distillery, also known as Linlithgow, closed in 1983.
Also known as Linlithgow, this lost Lowlands distillery was built in the mid-18th century by Sebastian Henderson and operated for well over 200 years before being closed in the great cull of 1983.
It had passed to A & J Dawson in 1798 before being acquired by DCL in 1912. The distillerywas re-equipped in 1927 andhad its own floor maltings until 1968, after which it bought in malt from Glenesk.
Despite a capacity of around 200,000 gallons a year of production, there were no official bottlings during its lifetime, and most malt fans had barely heard of it until a series of stunning Rare Malt bottlings (as St. Magdalene) in the mid-to-late 1990s. It is now one of the most lamented lost distilleries (the buildings have been converted to private housing), and Rare Malt bottlings are hungrily seized upon by aficionados and collectors alike.
