Description

Kilchoman 100% Islay 9 Year Old 15th Edition 70cl, 50% is a limited-edition Islay single malt Scotch whisky from Kilchoman’s farm-distillery series, bottled in 2025 at 50% ABV. This 15th Edition is a 9-year-old release created from a vatting of 54 ex-bourbon barrels, distilled from Kilchoman’s 2014 and 2015 Concerto and Publican barley harvests.

What makes this bottling especially attractive is the strength of the 100% Islay concept. Kilchoman states that the range is Islay’s only single farm single malt, with the barley grown, malted, distilled, matured, and bottled on site before the whisky ever leaves the island. That gives this release a much stronger sense of place than most modern Scotch bottlings, even within the single malt category. The point about stronger sense of place is an inference based on Kilchoman’s farm-to-bottle production model.

The style here is bourbon-led rather than sherry-driven, which keeps the whisky bright, fruit-forward, and distillery-led. Kilchoman’s official tasting notes highlight vanilla, tropical fruits, fresh hay, toasted oak, salted butter, milk chocolate, salted caramel, candied citrus, ripe pear, white pepper, and lingering maritime peat smoke.

Collector’s Note

This is not a single-cask collector bottle, but it has real enthusiast appeal because it sits in one of Kilchoman’s most distinctive ongoing ranges. The 100% Islay series has a stronger identity than many annual releases because every stage of production happens at the distillery, and this 15th Edition adds a 9-year age statement plus a clearly defined 13,000-bottle outturn.

It is also the kind of bottle that speaks strongly to Kilchoman followers because it shows the distillery’s spirit in a more pure bourbon-cask form, without heavier sherry influence taking centre stage. That point is an inference based on the ex-bourbon maturation and the official tasting profile.
