Description
Glenmorangie The Duthac 1L, 43% is a distinctive Highland single malt originally released for the global travel-retail market. Introduced at the end of 2014, it became the first expression in Glenmorangie’s Legends Collection, a series inspired by stories and landmarks surrounding the distillery’s Highland home.
The whisky begins with Glenmorangie matured in ex-bourbon casks. This is married with two specially finished parcels: one extra matured in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks for rich sweetness and another finished in charred virgin oak for additional spice and toasted intensity.
The Duthac takes its name from Saint Duthac, whose medieval shrine is located in the Royal Burgh of Tain, close to Glenmorangie Distillery. King James IV of Scotland is associated with annual pilgrimages to the shrine, giving the release a strong connection to the history of the local area.
The whisky combines ripe pears, red berries, golden raisins and orange with vanilla cake, honey, almonds and cinnamon. The virgin-oak influence adds clove, pepper and drying wood spice, while the PX casks contribute dark fruit, caramel and gentle chocolate richness.
Why Choose Glenmorangie The Duthac 1L, 43%
This expression stands out because it combines three complementary styles of maturation. Ex-bourbon oak preserves Glenmorangie’s citrus, vanilla and orchard-fruit character, Pedro Ximénez casks add rich fruit and sweetness, and charred virgin oak provides stronger spice and toasted structure.
For drinkers, The Duthac offers a richer and more robust profile than the classic Glenmorangie Original while remaining smooth and approachable at 43%. Pear, orange, raisins and honey are balanced by almonds, dark chocolate, cinnamon and gently drying oak.
For collectors, the one-litre travel-retail presentation and position as the first Legends Collection release give it additional interest. It is especially suitable for collections featuring The Tayne, The Tarlogan and The Cadboll alongside other discontinued Glenmorangie travel-retail expressions.
Ideal For.
This bottle is ideal for Glenmorangie collectors looking for the first expression released in the travel-retail Legends Collection.
It is ideal for whisky drinkers who enjoy ripe pear, red berries, golden raisins, orange, vanilla, honey, almonds and warming oak spice.
It is also ideal for collectors of large-format one-litre whiskies, discontinued travel-retail releases and Glenmorangie expressions finished in Pedro Ximénez and virgin oak casks.

Collector’s Note
Glenmorangie The Duthac has good collector appeal because it introduced the Legends Collection and established the series’ focus on stories connected with the lands surrounding Glenmorangie Distillery. Its name, packaging and cask recipe give it a clearly identifiable place within the brand’s travel-retail history.
The one-litre bottle is also less common in domestic retail than a standard 70cl release. Collectors seeking the complete Legends Collection will require The Duthac alongside later expressions such as The Tayne, The Tarlogan and The Cadboll.
Although no numbered production total was announced, the expression is no longer a regular part of Glenmorangie’s current range. Examples retaining their original presentation box, clean labels, intact closure and strong fill level are the most attractive for display and long-term collection.
