Description

Glenmorangie The Cadboll 1L, 43% is a rich Highland single malt released in 2018 for the global travel-retail market. It became the third permanent expression in Glenmorangie’s Legends Collection, following The Duthac and The Tayne.

The whisky was initially matured in ex-bourbon casks before being extra matured in French oak barriques that previously held sweet white wines made from Muscat and Sémillon grapes. These wine casks give Glenmorangie’s elegant citrus-and-vanilla spirit a richer texture and dessert-inspired character.

The Cadboll was inspired by the Cadboll Cup, a precious 16th-century silver wine vessel once treasured by the MacLeods of Cadboll. The family also created Cadboll House in 1699, now known as Glenmorangie House, near the distillery. The sweet French wine casks were selected to evoke the type of wine the historic cup may once have held.

Bottled at 43%, the whisky offers aromas of toasted brioche, lemon and roasted herbs. Its smooth, full palate develops warm biscuits, icing sugar, vanilla, mint sweets and milky toffee before a long finish of strawberry and lemon confectionery.

Why Choose Glenmorangie The Cadboll 1L, 43%

This expression stands out because its French wine-cask finish adds a distinctive dessert-like richness to Glenmorangie’s traditionally light and floral Highland style.

For drinkers, it offers an attractive balance between sweetness and freshness. Toasted brioche, warm biscuits, vanilla and toffee are lifted by lemon, floral notes and a crisp mineral character.

For collectors, The Cadboll has additional interest as a one-litre travel-retail exclusive and the third permanent release in the Glenmorangie Legends Collection. Its French Muscat and Sémillon cask finish also separates it clearly from the standard Glenmorangie range.

Ideal For.

This bottle is ideal for Glenmorangie collectors looking for releases from the travel-retail-exclusive Legends Collection.

It is ideal for whisky drinkers who enjoy toasted brioche, lemon cream, vanilla, warm biscuits, milky toffee and gentle wine-cask sweetness.

It is also ideal for collectors of discontinued-style travel-retail presentations, unusual wine-cask finishes and large-format one-litre single malts.

Collector’s Note

Glenmorangie The Cadboll has good collector appeal because it belongs to the travel-retail-exclusive Legends Collection. The series was designed to explore stories connected with the Highland lands surrounding Glenmorangie Distillery through unusual cask combinations and extra maturation.

Its inspiration from the historic Cadboll Cup gives the bottle a strong identity, while the Muscat and Sémillon wine-cask finish makes it one of the more distinctive releases in the collection.

The Cadboll should not be confused with Glenmorangie The Cadboll Estate 15 Year Old. The Cadboll described here is a no-age-statement, one-litre travel-retail release finished in sweet French wine casks. The Cadboll Estate is a separate 15-year-old expression matured in bourbon casks and produced using estate-grown barley.

No individually numbered production total was announced. Its collector appeal therefore depends on its travel-retail history, Legends Collection position, large-format presentation and condition. Bottles retaining their original box, clean labels, intact closure and strong fill level are the most attractive.
