Description

Fuji Single Blended Whisky 70cl, 43% is an elegant Japanese whisky produced entirely at the Fuji Gotemba Distillery in Shizuoka Prefecture, at the foot of Mount Fuji.

Its official name is Kirin Single Blended Japanese Whisky FUJI. The term “single blended” means that the whisky combines both malt and grain whiskies, but every component comes from the same distillery. This distinguishes it from conventional blended whiskies, which often combine spirits produced at several different distilleries.

Fuji Gotemba is one of the relatively few distilleries capable of producing both malt and several styles of grain whisky at one location. The malt and grain components are created using the same Mount Fuji water, by the same production team and within the same natural environment before being carefully brought together by Kirin’s blending team.

The expression was introduced in Japan on 7 June 2022 and later expanded into international markets. Bottled at 43% ABV, it offers a silky, balanced and layered character centred around peach, apricot, orange liqueur, pear tart and white-flower honey.

This whisky also complies with the Japanese Spirits & Liqueurs Makers Association’s labelling standards for Japanese whisky, confirming its production credentials as a genuine Japanese whisky rather than an internationally sourced blend carrying Japanese-style branding.

Why Choose Fuji Single Blended Whisky 70cl, 43%

This expression stands out because it showcases the complete range of Fuji Gotemba’s whisky-making capabilities in one bottle. Malt whisky provides fruit, fragrance and structure, while the different grain-whisky styles contribute sweetness, smoothness and a silky mouthfeel.

Its profile is refined rather than heavily smoky or aggressively oaked. Peach, apricot and orange liqueur lead into pear tart and floral honey, making it approachable for newer Japanese whisky drinkers while still providing enough complexity for experienced enthusiasts.

Fuji Single Blended has also earned considerable international recognition. It received Gold at the International Spirits Challenge in 2023, 2024 and 2025, while the World Whiskies Awards named it Best Japanese Blended Whisky in 2024.

For drinkers, it offers harmony, soft fruit and excellent versatility. For collectors, it represents the first permanent Single Blended expression within Kirin’s modern FUJI range and an unusual whisky category produced entirely by one Japanese distillery.

Ideal For.

This bottle is ideal for Japanese whisky drinkers who enjoy silky, fruit-led expressions with peach, apricot, pear, floral honey and gentle sweetness.

It is ideal for customers who want the balance of a blended whisky while knowing that every malt and grain component was distilled and matured at one distillery.

It is also ideal for collectors building the complete core FUJI range alongside the Single Grain and Single Malt expressions.

Enjoy it neat to appreciate its delicate layers, over a large cube of ice for a softer presentation or in a carefully prepared Japanese highball with chilled soda water.

Collector’s Note

Fuji Single Blended holds strong range-building appeal because it was the second permanent expression introduced within Kirin’s modern FUJI collection. It followed the Single Grain launched in 2020 and was later joined by the Single Malt in 2023.

Its importance also comes from the unusual Single Blended designation. Fuji Gotemba can produce both malt and grain whisky within the same facility, allowing Kirin to create a true single-distillery blend rather than combining whisky from several producers.

The whisky’s three consecutive International Spirits Challenge Gold awards and Best Japanese Blended title at the World Whiskies Awards 2024 add further credibility and collector interest.

This is not a numbered or scarce limited release, so its value is based primarily on its significance within the FUJI portfolio, award history and unusual production identity. Early Japanese releases, export-label variations and complete presentation packs may become more interesting to dedicated Fuji Gotemba collectors over time.
