Description
Fuji Gotemba Single Grain Japanese Whisky 70cl, 46% is an elegant and richly layered Japanese grain whisky produced entirely at Fuji Gotemba Distillery, situated at the foot of Mount Fuji in Shizuoka Prefecture.
Its official name is Kirin Single Grain Japanese Whiskey FUJI. Although described as “single grain,” this does not mean it is made from only one type of grain. The designation indicates that all the grain whiskies used in the final composition were produced at one distillery.
Fuji Gotemba is unusual because it produces several styles of grain whisky using knowledge derived from Scottish, American and Canadian whisky-making traditions. This expression combines three distinctive grain-whisky styles, allowing the blender to bring together light fruitiness, creamy sweetness, richer texture and subtle spice.
The result is a smooth but characterful whisky offering raspberry, orange marmalade and sweet pound cake on the nose. White grape, orange peel and red fruit develop across the palate before a gently sweet, woody and spicy finish.
Bottled at 46% ABV, it carries greater concentration and texture than many lighter grain whiskies while remaining polished, approachable and suitable for drinking neat, over ice or in a carefully prepared Japanese highball.
Why Choose Fuji Gotemba Single Grain Japanese Whisky 70cl, 46%
This expression stands out because it demonstrates the variety that can exist within grain whisky. Rather than relying on one light distillate, Fuji Gotemba combines three differently styled grain whiskies, each contributing its own texture, fruit character and weight.
The whisky balances bright white grape, raspberry and citrus with sweeter notes of orange marmalade, cake, vanilla and gentle oak. At 46%, it retains a mellow texture while providing enough intensity for slow sipping.
It has also received sustained international recognition. Kirin reported that the Single Grain expression earned Gold at the International Spirits Challenge for six consecutive years from 2020 through 2025.
Ideal For.
This bottle is ideal for Japanese whisky drinkers who enjoy elegant, fruit-forward spirits with white grape, orange peel, raspberry, vanilla and subtle spice.
It is ideal for bourbon and grain-whisky enthusiasts interested in comparing Scottish-, American- and Canadian-influenced production styles within one Japanese distillery.
It is also ideal for customers exploring the FUJI range and wanting to compare the Single Grain expression with the distillery’s Single Malt and Single Blended whiskies.
Kirin recommends enjoying approximately 30ml in a Sauvignon Blanc wine glass with one small piece of ice, allowing the layered fruit aromas and mellow texture to open gradually.

Collector’s Note
Fuji Gotemba Single Grain has collector interest because it was the first expression released within Kirin’s modern FUJI flagship range in 2020. The Single Blended followed in 2022 and the Single Malt in 2023, making this bottle an important starting point for anyone building a complete FUJI collection.
Its six consecutive International Spirits Challenge Gold awards from 2020 to 2025 strengthen its reputation as one of the distillery’s defining modern releases.
This is not a numbered or deliberately scarce bottling, so its collector appeal comes primarily from its importance within the FUJI portfolio, its distinctive packaging and possible differences between early Japanese, American, European and other export-market labels.
Earlier release bottles and discontinued packaging variations may become more interesting to dedicated Fuji Gotemba and Japanese whisky collectors.
