Description
Francis Ford Coppola Director’s Cut Zinfandel 75cl, 14.5% is a rich and full-bodied Californian red wine produced from grapes grown in Dry Creek Valley, one of Sonoma County’s most respected regions for Zinfandel.
This 14.5% edition is made from 89% Zinfandel and 11% Petite Sirah. Zinfandel provides ripe blackberry, plum, wild berry jam and warming spice, while Petite Sirah adds deeper colour, firmer structure and additional complexity.
Half of the fruit was crushed whole before fermentation with the grape skins and seeds in open-top fermenters. This method encourages greater extraction of colour, aroma and concentrated fruit flavour.
The wine matured for 17 months in a combination of French and American oak barrels, with approximately 20% new oak. The barrel ageing complements the ripe fruit with layers of chocolate, vanilla, caramel, toast and sweet spice.
Bottled at 14.5%, Director’s Cut Zinfandel is voluptuous and generously flavoured, combining blackberry jam, dark plum and ripe cherry with chocolate, vanilla, pepper and seasoned oak. Its rich style makes it particularly suitable for grilled meats, slow-cooked dishes and mature cheeses.
Why Choose Francis Ford Coppola Director’s Cut Zinfandel 75cl, 14.5%
This wine stands out because it combines concentrated Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel with a measured proportion of Petite Sirah for additional structure and depth.
The Zinfandel delivers ripe blackberry, plum, cherry and fruit-jam flavours, while Petite Sirah strengthens the wine’s colour, tannins and dark-fruit character. French and American oak maturation introduces chocolate, vanilla, caramel and warming spice without losing the expressive fruit.
The Director’s Cut collection was created to present the winemaker’s interpretation of individual Sonoma County varieties and appellations. Its distinctive wraparound label is inspired by zoetrope strips, an early form of moving-picture animation connected to Francis Ford Coppola’s filmmaking heritage.
For wine drinkers, it offers a bold, smooth and satisfying Zinfandel. For Coppola enthusiasts, its cinematic presentation makes it one of the most recognisable bottles in the winery’s range.

Collector’s Note
Francis Ford Coppola Director’s Cut Zinfandel is primarily produced as a premium drinking wine rather than a numbered or strictly limited collector’s release.
Its collector appeal comes from its Dry Creek Valley origin, documented Zinfandel and Petite Sirah blend, extended oak maturation and distinctive cinematic packaging.
The wraparound label was designed after a zoetrope strip, one of the earliest devices used to create the illusion of moving images. Director’s Cut labels reproduce strips associated with Francis Ford Coppola’s personal zoetrope collection, making the bottle especially recognisable among film and wine enthusiasts.
Different vintages may carry variations in blend, alcoholic strength and barrel treatment. Collectors should therefore confirm the vintage shown on the bottle and retain examples with clean labels, intact capsules, sound corks and strong fill levels.
