A very interesting little whisky from Amrut, this is unpeated and aged in American oak bourbon barrels before a finish in port pipes, especially imported from Portugal. Lovely stuff!

Amrut’s Raj Igala is a single malt whisky made with Punjabi malted barley and aged in casks which previously matured bourbon.
Kavalan Solist Vinho Barrique (70cl, 57.1%)
To mature their Kavalan Solist Vinho Barrique expression, the King Car distillers in Taiwan use casks which have held both red and white wines, before being re-toasted. The whisky is fully matured in these casks to help their Taiwanese single malt develop a bold, expressive flavour profile brimming with berry, plum and caramelised sugar notes. At the Los Angeles Wine & Spirits Competition this exciting Taiwanese whisky received a Gold Medal and an impressive score of 91 out of 100.
Kavalan Bourbon Oak (70cl, 46%)
Like the Kavalan Sherry Oak, this release takes the same fantastic liquid that’s been used in Solist releases (in this case, the bourbon cask matured ones) and dilutes it to a bottling strength of 46% using local spring water.

Created as a well-rounded malt to represent the well-rounded Group, who operate in many industries, it is also bottled at a higher abv of 46%.
