Like its predecessor, the 2019 edition Founder’s Choice spent its time maturing in American oak red wine casks that were shaved, toasted and re-charred, following a process that was created by Dr. Jim Swan. Following maturation, this tasty treat gets bottled up at cask strength, letting all those malty, fruity, toasty flavours sing. 2,500 bottles were released in this batch.

Distillery De Molenberg is built alongside Het Anker Brewery and is owned by Gouden Carolus. It is based in Mechelen, Belgium.
Gouden Carolus did not start as a whisky company, but has a long tradition brewing beer. In 2009, Gouden Carolus started the renovation works for their distillery. Late 2009, the hand hammered copper pot stills (a first for Belgian distilleries) that were made by coppersmith, Forsyths in Scotland were installed. In October 2010 the first pure distillate flowed out of these stills. Their core range whisky, the Gouden Carolus Single Malt, is distilled from the mash of Gouden Carolus Tripel beer.
