Barolo Cannubi DOCG 2018, Marchese di Barolo 75cl, 14%

Cannubi is the long, gradually rising hill in the centre of the Barolo area. Here, Serravallian and Tortonian soils meet and merge, creating bluish-gray marls rich in magnesium and manganese carbonates that take on a whitish-gray hue at the surface due to weathering: clays mixed with very fine sands, impregnated with a strong limestone content composed of magnesium and manganese carbonates. Their technical name is “Sant’Agata fossil marls”, but they are commonly called Toû and on average they comprise clays (55%), sands (30%) and limestone (15%). Surrounded by higher hills that protect it from bad weather and excessive flow of air, Cannubi enjoys a very special, unique microclimate.

The Truentum winery, located near the Tronto river on the border between Abruzzo and Marche, celebrates Abruzzo’s winemaking excellence. Its wines, characterized by a unique taste, benefit from the mild climate and varied soil of Abruzzo, enriched by the reliefs of the Apennines, the Maiella, the Gran Sasso and the Laga mountains. The ten-hectare vineyard in Controguerra, Teramo, exploits limestone-clayey and sandy-clayey soils, ideal for high-quality wines, between the mountains and the Adriatic coast.The blend from which Riva Sud is born is composed of Cabernet Sauvignon and Montepulciano grapes, with a manual harvest carried out at the end of October. Soft pressing of the bunches and classic red vinification precede a 12-month refinement in French oak barrels.It is characterized by an intense ruby red color with violet reflections.

Montepulciano di Abruzzo Riserva Malamore is produced by Cantina Truentum, a company belonging to Cantine Nae, a young company that brings together wines produced from different regions of the Italian peninsula. Truentum was born in 2020 in Abruzzo in the Controguerra area, on the border with the Marche.It comes from 100% Montepulciano grapes, which are vinified in thermo-regulated steel tanks. The wine subsequently ages in French oak barrels for 9 months.Ruby red in color with violet reflections, the nose reveals aromas of violet, berries, spices and wood. The sip is warm and strong, with well-integrated tannins and a long finish.It pairs well with grilled red meats and mature cheeses.
