In honour of 125 years of whisky production, Glenfiddich released this limited edition single malt Scotch whisky in 2012. For this expression, the chaps at Glenfiddich have used a combination of peated and unpeated whiskies aged in a large proportion of Spanish ex-Sherry butts, as well as American ex-bourbon casks. It was presented alongside a copper stopper, a leaflet giving some background on the release and a handsome presentation case. Distilled by Glenfiddich, this release forms part of their Experimental Series. This expression is the fifth release in the range and is a collaboration with the Somerset Cider Brandy company. It been finished in Somerset Pomona spirit casks, which is a blend of cider brandy and apple juice, and bottled at a strength of 43% abv.
Orchard Experiment is the fifth release in Glenfiddich Distillery’s Experimental Series and is the world’s first single malt to be finished in Somerset Pomona casks. The palate is bright and fruity, with notes of crunchy apples, vanilla, oaky spice and caramel that linger in the finish.
A tremendous addition to the Experimental Series from Glenfiddich, combining the influences of Scotland and Somerset! This single malt has been finished in casks that previously held Somerset Pomona Spirit (a blend of apple cider brandy and apple juice) from the Somerset Cider Brandy Co.! This experiment came about after Glenfiddich’s Malt Master Brian Kinsman paid a visit to the Somerset Cider Brandy Co. to meet with its Master Distiller Matilda Temperley. After a stroll around the vintage orchards, the idea was born, the casks were sent from Somerset to Scotland and filled with a core of delicious malt, before being left to ripen. Top stuff for sipping on a warm evening, perhaps after a nice glass of cider.

This is a bottle of the Russian Cask of Dreams release by Glenfiddich, strictly to the Russian market in 2012.
Idividuals were asked to sign and record their dreams on casks that was travelling around Russia. Once finished of the tour the cask was flown back to Scotland and filled with Glenfiddich for a a short period before bottling. The total out-turn of the Cask of Dreams was 6,420 bottles available only within the Russia.

For our third experiment, Malt Master Brian Kinsman travelled to Canada to meet a renowned winemaker in Niagara. There he learned how the grapes had to be picked by moonlight at -10˚C to produce the intensely sweet Icewine. Upon his return to the Glenfiddich Distillery Brian started experimenting with several French oak Icewine casks from the Canadian winery, filling them with different Glenfiddich aged malts for up to six months. Only the rarer whiskies, those aged for 21 years, could cope with the extra Icewine intensity. The taste is a perfect combination of both pioneering liquids, the heightened candied sweets and oakiness of Glenfiddich are complemented by mouth-watering tropical fruit notes and a luscious sweetness from the unique Icewine cask finish. First released in October 2017, the long-awaited second batch is now available.
The third release in their experimental series utilises French Oak “Ice Wine” casks from the freezing vineyards of the renowned Peller Estates winery near Niagara, Canada.

Cumulative Time is an appropriate name for this 40-year-old whisky because it’s made using a technique called remnant vatting. It’s a process unique to the distillery in which the malt master carries one batch over, time and time again, before marrying it with the casks selected for each subsequent release. This is done to imbue the spirit with the character of past releases and to accumulate layers of flavour over 40 years. The bottle is presented in a handmade jesmonite box with subtle markings on each so they’re unique and unable to be replicated.

Grand Château, part of the Grand Series, is the distillery’s first release to use Bordeaux red wine casks. This nine-year finish adds indulgent notes of candied cherry, toffee apples, and toasted oak, underpinned by familiar warming spice and a long, fruity finish.
An immensely impressive addition to the Grand Series from Glenfiddich, and the first release by the distillery that has been matured in red wine casks from the Bordeaux region of France!
