Croftengea 11 Year Old Batch 5 That Boutique-y Whisky Company (50cl, 47.8%)
The Loch Lomond distillery is famed for its unique and varied still setup, which enables it to produce a vast array of different whisky styles. But is all of that just a cover for the fact that it’s actually run by a bunch of wizards? The folks at That Boutique-y Whisky Company certainly suspect so. A smoky spell must have been cast when making this one, it’s a peated Croftengea single malt that spent 11 years maturing in a refill bourbon hogshead.
Batch 5 is a release of 183 bottles.

This single malt hails from Mortlach and spent 10 years maturing, starting off in a refill hogshead and finishing in a rum cask. The Speyside-based distillery uses a traditional worm tub condenser which contributes to the robust, muscular character of its whisky and in turn, the nickname ‘Beast of Dufftown’ which is rather terrifyingly depicted on the label for this limited edition 700ml bottle.

Wormtub 12 Year Old Natural Cask Strength Sherry Cask Batch 5 70cl, 58.2%
Wormtub 12yo Single #5
Back for a fifth batch, it’s the much-adored single cask edition of Wormtub 12 Year Old single malt! This Speysider finished its maturation in a single first-fill oloroso sherry hogshead before it was bottled at cask strength, a robust 58.2% ABV. Worm tubs are a classic bit of distilling kit that can achieve distinctly characterful, heavy, robust flavour profiles. To ensure that remains the case here, this whisky has not undergone any chill-filtration and has no added colour, the vibrant hue you see here is all thanks to that glorious sherry cask!
Millstone 4 Year Old – Batch 8 That Boutique-y Whisky Company (50cl, 54.1%)
Dutch single malt from Millstone, peated to 55pm! This single malt was treated to a four-year stay in a Pedro Ximénez sherry hogshead, which was cracked open by That Boutique-y Whisky Company for its World of Smoke collection. Wormtub 10 Year Old Natural Cask Strength Sherry Cask Batch 5 70cl, 56.1%
Wormtub 10 Year Old
Fans of Wormtub whisky will be pleased to see another batch of its splendid 10-year-old single malt here! As with previous batches, Batch 5 of this spectacular Speysider is aged for 10 years, during which time, the whisky was reracked into a host of first-fill sherry casks to complete its maturation. What came out of those casks is the magnificently richly hued single malt you see before you, it was bottled without chill filtration or added colour at a bold 56.1% ABV. You read that correctly by the way, no added colour – that impressive hue is all from the cask!
The whisky is sourced from an undisclosed Speyside distillery that still uses a rather old-school (and rather brilliant) bit of kit – a worm tub condenser. These classic bits of distilling equipment are made up of long copper coiled tubes housed in cold water in a large vat. You don’t see too many of them around these days, with many distilleries having replaced them with more efficient shell and tube condensers. More efficient perhaps, but what is lost is the distinctive heavy, robust flavour profiles that can be achieved with a worm tub, and that are adored by distillers and whisky enthusiasts alike.
Speyside #7 9 Year Old That Boutique-y Whisky Company (50cl, 60.5%)

Christmas Cake & Dark Chocolate & Medjool Dates & Cinnamon & Sherry Casks & Cask Strength 12 Year Old Batch 03 (70cl, 55.6%)
Festive flavours like Christmas cake, dark chocolate, medjool dates, and cinnamon are the name of the game here. And by “name of the game”, we of course mean that Christmas Cake & Dark Chocolate & Medjool Dates & Cinnamon is literally the name of this whisky. What we’ve got is a superb Speyside single malt Scotch whisky, aged for eight years and boasting a sleighful of Yuletide elements, perfect for enjoying… Well, yeah, it’ll obviously be brilliant at Christmas, and any whisky fan will be thrilled to find a bottle under the tree with their name on it. It’ll probably be great any time of year if you’re a lover of sherried single malt, thinking about it, but it does have that little bit of holly on the label, so, y’know, Christmas and that.
Seaweed & Aeons & Digging & Fire & Sherry Casks 10 Year Old (70cl, 40%)
Peat and sherry is a great combo, though sometimes it can be a bit like a shouting match between a foghorn and a washing machine full of pots and pans. Thankfully, this one shows off a welcome harmony between the two. It’s a marvellous variation of Seaweed & Aeons & Digging & Fire, featuring the same smoky 10 year old Islay single malt, though instead of just 25% of it being finished in sherry casks, the entirety of the whisky was finished in them. The powerfully peaty notes at its core are mellowed by just enough sherry sweetness, making for a superbly well-balanced flavour profile.
Islay Whisky 8 Year Old That Boutique-y Whisky Company (70cl, 45.8%)

A mysterious Speyside single malt here from That Boutique-y Whisky Company! It’s an 8 year old expression, produced at an undisclosed distillery in the aforementioned Speyside region. Though we may not know which distillery is responsible (and there are many in the region), perhaps the label holds some secrets. Hopefully you’re not scared of ghosts, mind…
Batch 1 is a release of 4,221 bottles.
Seaweed & Aeons & Digging & Fire 10 Year Old (70cl, 40%)
This right here is a 10-year-old single malt from an undisclosed distillery on Islay, with 25% of it having been finished in first-fill oloroso sherry casks, and bestowed the decidedly descriptive name Seaweed & Aeons & Digging & Fire. If those four words (and three ampersands) aren’t quite enough of an explanation of what this expression is all about, here are a few more: stripped-back, smoky, complex, a bit sherried, balanced, coastal. Yeah, that should do it. Great for people who love uncompromising Islay whisky and sans-serif fonts.

Whisky is made all over the shop, and enjoyed in a plethora of ways – which has inspired That Boutique-y Whisky Company to create the World Whisky Blend! Just like the bottle says, it’s “a blend of incredible whiskies from planet Earth”, and perfect for mixing. So whether you enjoy your whisky with cola, ginger ale, soda water, tonic, coconut water or even green tea, this’ll be more than suitable. It’s also marvellous served neat, if you’re not a fan of mixing whisky…

You can always spot bottles from That Boutique-y Whisky Company thanks to their stand out label designs, created by Emily Chappell. The indie bottler is celebrating its iconic imagery with a series of Label Editions, including this limited edition 700ml bottle of Canadian Corn whisky! Matured for eight years, this expression is a marriage of whiskies matured in Pedro Ximénez sherry and Islay whisky octave casks offering a delicious twist on Boutique-y’s core Canadian expression. The label features an element from previous Boutique-y labels, a dartboard belonging to the bottler’s compliance team (or the ‘fun police’ as they like to call them). Wait, is that the beloved Canadian Sam Simmons, 2023 Blender of the Year that they’ve been throwing darts at?!
