Malt master Brian Kinsman has given some of the distillery’s peated single malt a three-month finishing period in rum casks – but not just any old rum casks. He’s selected rum casks from a variety of South American countries to finish this whisky, which ought to play nicely with the burly peat notes at its core.

This right here is a 10-year-old single malt from an undisclosed distillery on Islay, with 25% of it having been finished in first-fill oloroso sherry casks, and bestowed the decidedly descriptive name Seaweed & Aeons & Digging & Fire. If those four words (and three ampersands) aren’t quite enough of an explanation of what this expression is all about, here are a few more: stripped-back, smoky, complex, a bit sherried, balanced, coastal. Yeah, that should do it. Great for people who love uncompromising Islay whisky and sans-serif fonts.

Matured for eight years, this expression is a marriage of whiskies matured in Pedro Ximénez sherry and Islay whisky octave casks offering a delicious twist on Boutique-y’s core Canadian expression. The label features an element from previous Boutique-y labels, a dartboard belonging to the bottler’s compliance team (or the ‘fun police’ as they like to call them).
