For Triskelion, three legendary Highland Park whisky makers joined forces. Together, Gordon Motion, Max McFarlane and John Ramsay chose and married three principal cask types, with the aim of exploring the influence of wood and cask seasoning. Liquid from first-fill sherry seasoned Spanish oak butts, first-fill sherry seasoned American oak casks and first-fill bourbon barrels and hogsheads, along with a small number of refill casks was bottled up at 45.1% ABV. Back in 1998, we started seeing some of Dr. Bill Lumsden’s first experiments as that was the year he was appointed director of whisky creation. For this Grand Vintage Malt, the whisky was matured in a variety of casks, including bourbon, sherry, and virgin new charred oak, the latter being one of the first times Glenmorangie used this wood profile. This is special stuff, and something of a time capsule to the early days of Dr. Bill.

Wilson & Morgan was founded in Italy in 1992 by Fabio Rossi, the son of prolific importer Mario Rossi Jr, who began distributing Scotch whisky back in the 1960s. His son’s company was one of a new generation of Italian bottlers established in the 1990s, which aimed to replicate the successes of predecessors like Samaroli and Moon Import.
This is a blend of 1980 vintage malt and grain whiskies, aged in sherry wood and bottled as 35 year old in 2015.
